Horatio Caine

An arson and explosives expert, Horatio Caine left the bomb squad to take over the CSI labs after Megan Donner stepped down. He is haunted by the death of his brother, a Miami-Dade narcotics officer who was abusing crystal meth at the time of his murder. Horatio often worries that his feelings for Ray’s widow, Detective Yelina Salas, are going to cross the line. Therefore, he chooses to keep her at arm’s length. Without a family or intimate relationship of his own, he is a tireless crusader for what he views as “his city”, spending his free time poring over scientific articles to better understand the criminal mind. As a three-dimensional thinker, Horatio is more comfortable on a crime scene than in the lab. He always reminds himself that the cases aren’t about him but about the victims. His catch phrase is, “We never close.”
Calleigh Duquesne

Known as Bullet Girl throughout the Miami-Dade Police Department, Calleigh is a top-drawer ballistics expert who can ID calibres on sight. She grew up as the privileged daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenworth Duquesne, a lawyer and an aspiring novelist. A true southern gent with a weakness for John Barleycorn, Duquesne hoped his daughter would also marry a southern gent and settle down. He is surprised at, but proud of, the path she has chosen.
Ryan Wolfe

As the first responding patrol officer at the scene of a bus crash, Ryan Wolfe impresses Horatio Caine to such an extent that he earns himself a place with within the coveted CSI team. He gets off to a flying start, solving his first case by putting scientific knowledge into context through a mixture of intelligence, drive and curiosity. But it's not long before his desire to be recognised and praised for his work creates tension within the CSI team - something he must learn to control if he is to maintain harmony with his colleagues.
Eric Delko

Delko is a first generation Cuban having crossed the Florida Straits while still in his mother’s womb. Upon arrival, his Russian-born father changed the family name from Delektorsky to Delko, and christened his newborn son Eric. Delko is a natural athlete, having graduated with a swimming scholarship from the University of Miami. After accepting the fact that his dreams of Olympic gold would never be realised, he turned his attentions to the police academy and, to his father’s great disappointment, offered his skills to the MDPD underwater recovery department. Delko was Horatio Caine’s first appointment upon taking over the crime lab, having been impressed with the younger man’s skills during a bomb scare. Despite his freewheeling nature, his love of the nightlife and fast cars, Delko is an invaluable asset to the team, which is in no small part thanks to his strong ties to Miami’s Cuban-American community

After seeing one too many surgeons lose patients to “complications,” Alexx took a job as medical examiner to catch any cover-ups and speak for the victims. Her job is to give a voice to the dead and listen to what their bodies “say” to help bring their killers to justice. Alexx is meticulous in her work and is frequently accused of being compulsively tidy by her husband and two sons. She is a crucial member of the CSI team

The widow of Horatio's brother Raymond, Columbian-born Detective Yelina Salas now finds herself in the awkward situation of working homicide under the leadership of her brother-in-law and his CSIs. She is aware of Horatio’s attraction to her and often tries to steer him into spending more time with her and her son, Raymond Jr, but Horatio always insists on keeping his distance.
