just a question,

Myself and my partner are not married and really dont have any intention of . But we do see each other as husband and wife.

Do you think its right for his necies and nephews to call me auntie even though we are not married,

I was just talking about my new nephew and was told im not intitled to call him my nephew as im not married to my partner,

sorry if this is a bit confusing but those comments upset me a little as i do see all of hem as my neices and nephews.

I don't blame you at all for been upset. I was 9 years with my ex husband before we got married and all his neice and nephews called me auntie. My niece and nephew called him uncle. My sister is not married and has no intentions but I still she her boyfriend as Uncle to my kids.

Whoever said you are not entitled are heartless

my sister was a bit like that. when my first nephew was born, his mum was only 16 so my mum and dad took care of him and he is like my brother, not a nephew but my eldest sister refuses to see him like that. Some people think if you just in a relationship then your partner cannot be family

I had an uncle that wasn't really my uncle but I didn't call him uncle as my dad and me haven't got on with him for ages now. I think that as long as your family gets along with the person, the kids should call them auntie or uncle.

i used to think that if you were in a serious relationship if your other halfs niece/nephew liked you and wanted to call you it then i felt kind of priviledged but now me and my partner split on bad terms and now i miss her and according to neutral gossip she was upset to lose me as an auntie so i wouldnt go down that road again it was too hurtful
