From A Poster On Digital Spy:

us EastEnders wer expecting all the stops to come out on Febuary 19th for a 21st birthday to remember, but, Kate Harwood will be pulling all the stops out for EastEnders when Holby City will be put back, due to EastEnders biggest milestone yet, its 1000th episode!!!!

Kate's next major episode will be the Mitchell's big return, Jonneys exit for now, but, as Kathy wont be having a funurel ect... Kate will be making sure Tuesday 9th May is an episode to remember, and a ratings winner!!

Transmitted around the time of Corrie legend Mike Baldwins exit - Kate is relying on the episode for a major ratings winner, in order for EE to have the highest rated episode of the year.

Although, we dont no any details yet; an episode transmitted a fortnight before (source: ee webcam) sees jane going out and waking up with a hangover

spoiler:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IAN: Paying the price now, are you?
JANE: Eh?
IAN: For last night.
JANE: What are you talking about?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that confirms tabloid tales^^^

so im guessing it will see something between Jane & Grant come out maybe?! im not sure but im sure this episode will be up there with Who Shot Phil, Divorce Papers, Dens death!!!

The 9th May not March. :)

I don't think this episode they are talking about be an episode for me to remember.

Kim got there just before me. I guess I will have to be quicker next time. :)

Yes it sounds like an exciting episode, especially with the Mitchells being involved in it. The Summer is usually good for soaps, which is surprising because less people watch them. I am really looking forward to it.

I am confused the 1000th episode  I thought Eastenders would have gone past that now as it has been on air for 21 years

yeh thats what im thinking too, that would mean that on average theres been less than one epi per week and that isnt right!

eastenders was on 2 nights a week until april 1994 and 4 nights a week from august 2001

your soaps like hollyoaks, family affairs etc... that are on 5 nights a week will naturally have beat Eastenders in episode numbers

but they are diar... its quality not quantity

Hmm, for an 1000th episode it doesn't sound very interesting, I suppose Grant will be... but Jane ... she's just a really boring character.
Well done (well in advance lol) EE - can't wait til May 9th :D

I think Jane's a good character. She might be a bit boring when she's with Ian, but I think Grant would certainly bring her out of herself. Anyway I think it's more about the Beale/Mitchell feud that will cause all the excitement. When Grant had an affair with Lorraine it wasn't about Lorraine, because if it had of been it would have been awful, it was about how it effected Grant and Tiffany's relationship.

are you sure its the 1000th epi? cos going by what youve said, there would have been more than 1000 epis. if it was on for 2 nights a week til 94, then thats about 50 weeks in a year and so 100 epis per year for 9 years would make it 900 epis and thats only til 94, so it must be way more than 1000 by now

Hmm maybe... I suppose her with David wasn't that bad, she acted that really well. :) But her being a bit more adventerous... I just can't see it at the moment lol.

thats true! i revkon it must be the 10000th epi. if it was just 2 epi's a week the whole time we would still have passed 2000 by now!

I think I read somewhere they reset the episode numbers at some point - either when they went to 3 nights, or when they went to 4. :searchme: So while there's been more than 1000 episodes, maybe there hasn't been 1000 since they reset it.

I think its a shame Ian and Jane wont get a happy ending. Is she leaving? Because when this is found out she'll have no job / relationship / home.

i know Ian is a muppet but he really cant find a decent women can he? Its a shame cause Jane doesnt seem the type

I am confused the 1000th episode  I thought Eastenders would have gone past that now as it has been on air for 21 years

Also because it airs on most weekday nights. I remember reading about two years ago now that it was on it's 600th episode . Sort your maths out EastEnders

How can we find out exactly what the episode number is that we are currently up to?

It's on the webcam with the script preview. It says it's on episode 1002 and the 12th May.
