Theres reports in a mag that ee has 7 months (by xmas) to get its ratings up or it is cut by the goverment (the bbc and the goverment work together on bbc). 2 possible soryline is being planned by ee bosses is a:

bomb going of in the queen vic on xmas day

or a huge lorry crashing in to the vic!

Could ee go the same way as brookside did I HOPE NOT . We have all got to tune into ee before it comes to an end!

what mag was it in?
i cant see them axing ee unless the ratings realy drastically fall, as although the ratings havent been that great recently, its one of the highest (if not the highest) ratings shows on bbc

I dont see that happening somehow. Its been around for so long and it still has good ratings. I also dont see the government really caring. hhhhmmmmm.

Whilst not being one of EEs biggest fans I cannot see this happening just yet. There is still a lot of work to be done to bring back to speed but its certainly improved since the dreadful days of Louise Berridge and her cardboard funfairs :)

LMAO! EE is the BBC's biggest rated show, and the 2nd rated programme on TV. I really don't think it's going anywhere, but thanks for the laugh.

Yeah I totally agree with this..... Fair enough the show has'nt been doing as well as it used to, but there is no way that the BBC would axe it! I'd be stuck to think of anything else I actually watch on BBC!!

The government has no say on actual programming.

Bad Wolf
01-05-2005, 10:14
i dont think the government care about eastenders, the only arguement they have is that it can be seen as a waste of resources, but this isn't true.

i think they have a few more pressing issues to contend with other than what is shown on bbc1 at 7.30.

callummc
01-05-2005, 10:39
I thought the government told the bbc to stop chasing ratings a couple of months ago when they renewed their licence, also they have nothing to do with programms thats bown to the big bosses at the bbc

the only thing the govenment can be accused for interfering in is the world service, as the foreign office fund it entirely, but even then the beeb has "editorial control"

i've just read somthing in the mail EE has had atleast 2-3 most watched momnets in the top10 in the mail so i don't think they will pull the plug on it i would scan the article but i have no flipin scanner thanks to my dad not wanting to get one :wall:

I hardly think that they will axe Eastenders, but I can image that if things dont improve then the BBC I am sure will cut the amount of episodes per week, like going back to Tuesday's and Thursday's.

I have been reading this board today, and its very hard to understand what, the viewers want ?

Pauline is boring so you say ? Why because she is playing a part that many grandmothers in the country play.

Johnny Miller is doing a good job which is great.

Alfie is a shade of his former self who looks just lost nowadays.

Dot & Jim and the whole Driving thing is going to lighten it up, which is good.

This whole Den, Chrissie and Sam stuffs needs to be finished once and for all, and if bring him back is as a ghost happens. Well then maybe it should be asked.

Do you really think that the Mitchells are going to be the saviour ? or the failure do you really think there is much more milage in this ?

Things have improved a bit but I really dont know what the answer is

Someone on another board wrote a script and Andy was a bit crazy (was anyway :cheer: ) and he tried to blow up the Vic with Alfie and Kat in it! It was brill

Sorry, I went a little off topic :nono:

It's just tabloid jargon

Babe14

No that won't happen and just lately EE has been on the up. Last night's episode was good and the humour is really great. EE is Britains second highest rated soap and it could become no 1 again.

Every soap has it's bad period, Corrie went through it, so did Emmerdale and now It's Eastenders turn. The trouble is there are so many rumours flying around at the mo, not to mention "bad press".

brenda1971

I cant see that happening are you sure you were not dreaming this

dddMac1
03-05-2005, 13:44
it may be improving slowly but Eastenders is on the up all soaps go through there Bad patches from time to time.I think they should cut the episodes down to two a week instead of four then that would give the script writers more time to plan storylines but they should not Axe Eastenders

callummc
03-05-2005, 18:36
The scriptwriters complained last year and their complaints did sound justified ,they plan storys months in front and through illness, susspensions and 1 deportation and a couple of pregnancys and some actors demanding time off their whole storylines had to be totally rewritten time and time again well if i was the boss i would first off tell the actresses they had to give warning if they wanted to have children and use contraceptoin while under contract, tell actors they had to give at least a years notice if they want time off for anyone like jessie wallace and leslie granthem and the others who they susspend without pay ,id say no susspension you will work as usual but not be payed that would teach them to misbahave, that would then help them to plan in front and barring illness no one is allowed time off, then maybe the writers would stand a chance, maybe the bosses should listen to the actors input more to cos if hes happy in the way his charector is going hes more litley to give a good performance.

Babe14
04-05-2005, 08:32
I agree. Being a writer isn't easy but you have to be prepared for Hiccups and always have a back up plan, in other words make sure you have a couple of back up scripts on standby, which I believe does happen at times. Scripts are also edited a lot due to circumstances beyond anyones control. Actors/Actresse do have contracts so I believe that notice is always given due to this.

callummc
04-05-2005, 11:16
yes they had back up plans but no one could have immagined for just how many if you think about it,babs windsor got ill, cant be helped-use the back up plan, but for what happened after well to many problems then allong comes kh and starts ripping up and changing bits of scripts and for me when she took over after christmas day it was obvios to see things were to rushed and the actors had enough

Babe14
04-05-2005, 11:29
I think I probably agree with that because in screening time Eastenders went down hill rapidly mid Feb to about end of March beg of April, which in filming time would prob of been about Dec/Jan time, which may of been just before the big Producer shake up. Thinking about it all makes sense especailly as things are now on the up again.

emma_strange

i cant see that happening any time soon, though it hasnt been doing too well ratings are still high, i'd say over 2 million as being high.

Babe14
05-05-2005, 11:24
This is just a rumour. All the interviews I have seen with the Eastenders Actors/Actresses have said that everything is O.K. and that it is just a bad phase which every soap goes through. Ratings go up and down all the time. Ratings will probably go down in the summer because of people being away on their hols. So instead of watching Eastenders live they will be recording it instead, if this is taken into account ratings will prob be the same. Come to think about it there are prob more people watching Eastenders than the ratings show, what about people like myself who sometimes tape it and watch the next day.
