Just thought I'd say that I went to see Guys and Dolls last night and the good news for Alan is that Nigel still seems to be playing a plank of wood...a plank of wood with a very loud singing voice.

I'm surprised you saw him at all as he would have looked like the stage floor.

My Mum said it was too far to go, maybe if the show had been in the summer holidays, I might of gotten to go.

Hmm, I didn't find his acting that bad but I really can't imagine him being good at singing and dancing!

I think that if you think he was a wooden actor, you would think he was a wooden singer/dancer but if you thought he was a great actor and adored him you would think he was a greater singer/dancer

not necessarily, you can be good at one thing and not the others

Pity about Mrs Beckham though. She is neither. :rotfl:

Nigel Harman is a completely wooden actor. As I have not seen him in his musical I cannot comment personally. However Parkerman has seen him and I value his judgement. Wooden Actor - Wooden Singer - Wooden Go To See Him

He could always have got a job singing with that well known Irish group PLANKsty :D

Ok, a more valued judgment seeing as this topic seems to have taken off...I wasn't impressed by his acting; I thought he was still quite "wooden". His singing was ok, though I found it loud rather than particularly tuneful. His dancing wasn't too bad as it happens, especially in the Cuba bar scene.

In support of Nigel Harman, I think he does have the handicap, for me anyway, that I have seen the film many times - it is one of my all-time favourite musicals - and, of course I automatically compare him with arguably the greatest film actor of his generation, Marlon Brando, who was just simply brilliant as Sky Masterson.

I went to see Nigel last weekend and it was a great experience. His performance was lively and animated, and he has a lovely singing voice. His performance was a far cry from his days in EE where so much of the script written for his character was unimaginative, repetitive dialogue. No wonder he appeared wooden at times. If you can still get seats he is well worth seeing and not just because he looks good, he has real talent!
