Footballers’ Wives Series 5 – Episode 8
Written by Liz Lake, directed by Martin Hutchings and produced by Cameron Roach.
Tanya Turner (Zöe Lucker) watches as paramedics lead a sedated Paulo away from their Brazilian party – it’s clear he had some mental issues even Tanya Turner couldn’t deal with. But he was her meal ticket and the situation is worse now she’s discovered her ex-husband’s cash has been frozen. She is broke, jobless and husbandless – what will she do to maintain her lifestyle?
It is the day of Roger Webb’s funeral and his grieving widow Jackie (Gillian Taylforth) is beside herself. She is sure Garry Ryan (Nicholas Ball) had something sinister to do with it - but how can she prove it?
Bruno Milligan (Ben Richards) is desperate to support his estranged wife Lucy (Helen Latham) throughout her pregnancy and she’s starting to warm to the idea. But Bruno isn’t the only thing on her mind – there’s a darker issue looming.
Ruthless Tanya cooks up a plan to release some quick cash but when Garry Ryan takes her for a ride, she resolves to get her revenge.
Liberty (Phina Oruche) flies to Tokyo to shoot a commercial – it’s a great little earner but she hasn’t paid much attention to the storyline and it could be about to get her in very hot water.
Shannon (Sarah Barrand) throws a glitzy 19th birthday party for her boyfriend Callum (Craig Gallivan) to show how much she loves him. But cocky Callum is more interested in some tarty groupies. She tries to ignore his behaviour but hits boiling point when she discovers him shagging in a store room. Determined to teach him a lesson, Shannon accepts a little pick-me-up from Liberty and filled with new-found confidence, makes a beeline for hunky Calum Best who just can’t resist her charms.
Meanwhile Jackie has some big news – she’s decided to leave Earls Park and go to live in Australia with son Kyle. Tanya helps Jackie go through Roger’s belongings, one of which is just the evidence she might need to nail Garry Ryan. But Garry’s got a trick up his sleeve that may give Tanya Turner a taste of her own medicine.
