As rumours continued about Gary Oldman's appearance in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, David Heyman (Producer of the Potter Series) spoke out.
"We're not shooting his part for quite a while, and as is always the case, you begin with the parts that are most pressing .... We have every intention of having Gary Oldman play Sirius Black."

Afshan Azad (Padma) confirmed in an interview with Manchester Online that she'd be coming back for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Also, it seemed that John Cleese would be back for OotP, however the site who reported it later removed the information.

CBBC Newsround reported that morning that the Dursleys would return for the fifth Harry Potter movie. Several other new cast members were announced as well. Sian Thomas will play Amelia Bones, Jason Boyd will play Piers Polkiss, Richard Macklin will play Malcolm, Charles Hughes will play Young Wormtail, Richard Leaf will play the Auror Dawlish, and Nick Shim has been cast as Zacharias Smith.

Fan Site Snitch Seeker heard from a "reliable source" that the movie will contain the scene where Harry saves Dudley from the Dementors on Wisteria Walk. They also mention that Arabella Figg witnesses the event. In addition, the Wizengamot trial will be included, and Madam Bones and Mundungus Fletcher will appear in the film but actors haven't been confirmed for the roles.

GaryOldman.info reported that Gary Oldman wouldn't be appearing in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This rumour was later debunked by Warner Bros. who stated that Gary Oldman and David Thewlis would repise their roles as Sirius Black and Remus Lupin in the summer of 2007 .

WB announced certain roles had been filled. 14-year-old Evanna Lynch, who comes from Ireland, was cast as "Loony" Luna Lovegood after attending the open auditions. Imelda Staunton was announced as to play the Headmistress from hell, Dolores Umbridge [as previously rumoured]. Bellatrix Lestrange will be played by Helen McCrory. Nymphadora Tonks will be played by Natalia Tena. Mrs. Figg will be played by Kathryn Hunter.

WB cast the parts of Kingsley Shacklebolt and a young James Potter for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. The part of Kingsley Shacklebolt was given to George Harris. Robbie Jarvis was given the part of young James Potter.
