Diane tells Ric she is feeling under the weather and that she felt very nauseous earlier that morning. Ric tells her that she may be pregnant and suggests she take a test to make sure, and a surprised Diane goes to the supply cupboard to get a pregnancy test kit. Meanwhile, Chrissie is having a bad day and can sense Owen has things on his mind, too. She asks him to go for a drink and he happily accepts. Chrissie tells Owen about the rough time she had with a patient that died, and uses the patient’s love life as an analogy to talk about her and Owen. She tells him that he should follow his heart and not settle for second best out of guilt.As Owen gets up to leave, Chrissie asks him if he has already settled with second best but he ignores her and walks out. Owen later goes back to his office and runs into Diane, who tells him that she is pregnant.
Elsewhere, Mubbs is grumpy and tells Matt off for his text-book bedside manner. He has a hangover and is not in the mood to look after the two students. Matt notices that Mubbs missed something while diagnosing a patient, and distracts Dean so that he can tell him his concerns. Dean tells Mubbs what Matt has noticed and he reluctantly agrees that they are right.
