i cant believe the cheek of them girls. i have a slight anger problem but nothing as bad as theres. I felt a bit sorry for the girl that wanted a letter of her mum, and then she cried when she got it.

oh Yeah id never thought about it that way. Some of the kids are way out of control. There was a guy in my form at high school whose mum wrote about him. He joined the army instead.

Julia, an only child, lives in Weymouth with her mother, Anna, a manager of a residential home for the elderly. Julia was a pretty normal private-school girl as she was growing up, but she started to go off the rails when she was 13 years old.

'If I jumped off a bridge, Mum wouldn't care, she'd care about the fact that someone may have seen me jumping and thought badly of her as a mother.'


Everything in her life was destroyed because of drugs,' Anna says. Julia has been expelled from two boarding schools, the first one after eight days, and the second school after 36 hours. 'I was alarmed to hear that Julia had asked our pupils where they went shop lifting and where she could buy drugs,' said the letter from one school. 'I find it extremely embarrassing,' Anna complains. 'It's heartbreaking when you think that you're only child is leading this sort of life.'

For her part, Julia has accepted that she has been addicted to cannabis and has admitted to smoking it every day for three years. 'My worst fear is that Julia will end up on the street as a highly dependent drug addict,' her mother says 'She's wasting her life away and she's ruining mine.'

Georgie, whose parents are divorced, lives in Crawley with her Mum, Anne, who is an airport holiday rep. Even though she was a pretty normal, private-school pupil as she was growing up things went wrong when she was 14 years old after her parents divorced.

The second youngest of six children, she has two half brothers, two half sisters and one younger sister. Her older siblings have also had some problems, but Georgie has gone far further than the rest. She has stooped lower than low and has even been stealing from her Mum, while pretending to cuddle her.

'I've been had for assault, vandalism, possession of drugs. I just eat, sleep, spend money on pills, speed, pace, crack and do **** all.'


'She knows most of the local police by their Christian names,' Anne says. Georgie's had quite a few run ins with the law and she's even stolen her aunt's car. 'To get a phone call from the police in the middle of the night to say that your daughter's been arrested and is actually in one of their cells, it's just draining,' Anne says. 'Georgie seems to look upon prison cells almost as second homes.'

Georgie has been using drugs for the past two or three years. 'I think there's a lot in Georgie that she doesn't talk about at all,' Anne explains. 'There are problems and issues with Georgie because of the family break up. Her relationship with her father is extremely distant. I think she tests everybody that she meets. And so she'll push them to the nth degree.'

Lydia lives in Southampton with her parents Brian and Tina, who own and manage a transport and courier company. After having a relatively settled upbringing as a pupil at a private school, she started to become the victim of bullying and she began to go off the rails when she was 14 years old.

Elizabeth, who Lydia's 18-year-old sister, is described by her mother as a model daughter. She is studious calm and well behaved. Her and Lydia are like chalk and cheese, explains her mother. Lydia used to be very keen on dance and drama until she was 15 years old, when she got into drugs.

'Mum and Dad went mad about my piercings. They just said I looked like a ****.'


'Lydia is making our life a living hell, Brian says. 'The worst thing that she does is hang out in the park and down there are just losers. We know that in the past she's stolen stuff and bought drugs.'

Tina adds: 'As soon as Lydia hit 13 she started wearing black clothes and heavy make up.' Lydia has had her lip and tongue pierced, and she pierced her ears herself. She has been hospitalised twice for overdosing on Ecstasy. 'She'll steal from anyone, Tina says. 'I find it all so devastating. She's so lovely and lively and pretty and she could do so much with her life, but she's doing nothing.'
