hiya
if this isnt the right place to put it then im sorry
well i had my hair dyed on tuesday but as im allergic to hair dye i have now got a red rash on my head but now it feels like all the skin on my head has been pulled really tight, so it hurts to move my eyes and i have this piercing pain going through my head, also my neck is really hurting but i dont no if this is cause as the skin is tight if its just pulling on it. I have also got an earache and the lumps in you neck (i think there lymth glands) are really swollen on my right side i have 2 lumps and on the left i have 1 lump.
Is this just because of hair dye or is it something else?

Like with any allergic reaction ( if that is the case ) I would see a doctor right away.. that is the only advice I can give you and I think others will do the same. Good luck and please let us know what you do find out :)

as ive had it before when i dyed my hair ages ago it was only a small rash so my mum doesnt know if this is just an allergic reaction, i havent actually been told im allergic to it but as my mum has a lot of allergies it is just what she thinks it is

You should defiently go to the doctors, to stop it doing any permanent damage to your skin. They should be able to give you advice as to what chemicals to avoid in hair dyes in the future, so that if you dye it again, you wont have the same problem.

Then you may want to consider NOT dying your hair again, your health is more important. I am allergic to penicillin, and if I am accidentaly given some and I do not get a shot to reverse it my throat will close up and I will die,, so allergies react differently to each person,, I still say go see a doctor, just because your mom is allergic to different things, does not make her a doctor.

http://www.allergy-drug.com/ here is a link that gives you a more general idea..

yeah i think it is brown hair dye that does it so i will not be dying it brown again as it has got worse from last time i dyed it
and yeah my mum has to inject herself if she accidently eats something thats shes not ment to
my mum said if it dont go within a coupe of days (thats how long it took to go last time) then shell take me to the hospital
but im just worried as what if its nothing to do with the hair dye and its something wrong with me

There are various chemicals in all hair colorings, some people are allergic to the lighteners in blonde hair colorings, some are allergic to hair colorings PERIOD, Does not matter what color you use there is one certain chemical in all hair colorings that can be harsh,, if u are using the home hair coloring stuff, that stuff has a bit more chemicals in it than the stuff they use in a professional hair dresser..Best to lay off the stuff and find an allergist that will tell you what you are allergic to,, best to nip it in the bud.

but i had mine done profetionally so would that be any different

Not unless they mixed the color developer wrong,, I think it is just your skin reacting to the chemicals, as ur mom said if it doesnt clear up soon, she can take u to the hospital, I would do it now while it is the way it is, so the doctors can actually see the reaction...

why could i have an earache and my lymth glands swollen then could it be related

Angeltigger
16-02-2006, 16:19
If you had it done profetionally than they might have done it wrong as they are ment to test it first to see if you are allergic, than if you don't- but it sound like to me that they never tested it so i think you need to go to the doctors sooner rather than later as something could have happened and you can sue the hairdresser.

hollie (my hairdresser) done it before and it was fine, so i dont think its her fault, its just my head, ive got cream to put on my head but i dont like doctors anyway

Just see a doctor, no amount of talking and discussing it here is going to make it better, Like tiggs say, see a doc and find out what caused it.

Angeltigger
16-02-2006, 16:25
did hollie test you hair before she dyed it?

samantha nixon
16-02-2006, 16:26
no but she probably didnt as she has done it before so thought it would be ok

Angeltigger
16-02-2006, 16:28
has she ever tested your hair?

samantha nixon
16-02-2006, 16:29
erm i dont think so but my mum has when she dyes my hair and hollie knows that my mum has dyed it before

thanks for moving whoeve did im sorry i put it in the wrong place

Angeltigger
16-02-2006, 16:32
yeah but Hollie HAS to test your hair- it don't matter if your mum has dryed you hair like JustJodi said the chemicals are different- you might have an allergic as the chemicals- so i am saying go to the doctors (i'm saying it as a friend and as a person who has studied hairdressing for 2 years)

samantha nixon
16-02-2006, 16:35
yeah thanks tigs (didnt know you studied hairdressing) ill see if its better later as if not i might go doctors tomorrow or my mum might take me to work and see one of her friends (she works in a hospital) but im ment to be going away for the weekend

Angeltigger
16-02-2006, 16:37
but you need to go sooner than later (i want you to get better and i don't want to be get ill when you go away.anything could happen... the chemials are stronger in the hairdresser than in the home kits...

If they dont offer it, you could always ask for them to do a test beforehand. My cousin is a hair dresser and she never dyes without testing

You should definitely go and see the doctor. Lymph glands swell up when you have a reaction to something, usually a bacterial infection.

It does sound like an allergic reaction but I'm not a doctor, I'm just speaking from studying the immune system at college. My advice: see a doctor.
