EE and emmerdale are to go head again tomorrow night ,has EE improved enough to win,i dont think so but i suppose its possible, what does everyone else think,
Richie_lecturer

It will probably win, but I will be watching Emmerdale. Support the underdog everybody, and give the beeb a bloody nose as a warning that their flagship show is flagging in quality.
Is it the wedding on Emmerdale tomorrow? if yes, then it will win as EE doesn't have the wedding til friday
Richie_lecturer
15-02-2006, 12:20
Yes the double wedding on Emmerdale is tomorrow, for a whole hour.
Emmerdale will win without a doubt. Which would you rather watch The double Wedding or more depression and PatPat.
Its No Contest

Yes it's no contest qualitatively, but will the quantitative info the following day match up?

...side and play football in the street.
Coming out? Now hang on a minute! haha!We all knew that you were a closet Emmerdale fan. The EE loving was only a front.
Seriously though. Emmerdale is on top form at the minute and is streets ahead of the opposition or should that be Dales ahead

What stinks in Emmerdale right now is the manure at the Sugden's farm.
What sticks in EastEnders right now is the scripts, the writing, the plots, the acting, and the management.

emmerdale for me. The wedding is going to be wedding of the year. I cant wait. patrick and pat have really put me off EE.
the only thing making me watch emmerdale at the moment is stacey and bradley. don't forget eastenders is repeated on bbc3 at 10.00!

I watched emmerdale as i knew Jamie was coming in it. Eastender is going down hill and well i don't watch it apart from i am bored
emmerdale really deserved to win i watchd it and it had me laughing all the way through just what i wanted. I flicked to EE in the break and it was pauline Fowler scowling. I really like EE but last night Emmerdale was definalty better.

well after a head to head last week won by emmerdale, theres going to be another one this week with both soaps having big storylines well in the dales we are going to find out who killed tom king, and enders are coming back with a big storyline, any guesses for who will win, personally i think its gonna be emmerdale cos peoples been waiting since christmas for this episode
DaVeyWaVey
15-05-2007, 14:30
Hmm....i'm not sure, some people have got bored with the Tom King storyline and don't care who did it anymore, but i think Emmerdale may win anyway..i just have that feeling, but i think it's going to be quite close in the ratings between Eastenders and Emmerdale as they both have something big going on.
I think i'm going to watch Emmerdale on Thursday, then catch Eastenders later on BBC3.
I think Emmerdale will win.. EE big story is not actually until friday.. the lead up is on Thursday

Emmerdale didn't win on Thursday. From 7.30pm both EE and Emmerdale had 6.1 million each. EastEnders then got over 1 million viewers for its BBC Three repeat at 10pm.
Last night
EastEnders 9.0m (45%)
Emmerdale 7.9m (45%0
and on Friday
7.4m for Emmerdale
9.0m for Eastenders
So regardless of what happens during these clashes EastEnders is doing much much better than Emmerdale and Emmerdale hasn't had over 9 million viewers for 2 years!!

But that is the point.. when EE and Emmerdale do go head to head, Emmerdale has beat EE. It doesn't matter over all how EE is doing, it matters when these two soaps go head to head... I don't watch Emmerdale so I wont have to switch over to EE... most people will stick to watching Emmerdale for the full hour as EE is repeated.. I am sure there will be more people watch on BBC3 on Thursday than usual

No not really, Yes there is usually a pattern in that Emmerdale will do well up to the point where EastEnders comes on then they will start gradually losing viewers as they switch on to EastEnders.
But BARB take into account the average, it's the way they measure them so sometimes Emmerdale comes out looking better than it actually did when up against EE.
Of course all of the newspapers forget to mention EE when it's doing well but as soon as they have lower ratings then all hell breaks loose and the scare mongering starts.
And they never mention the full facts about these so called head to heads, they even neglect to mention that they're not even proper head to heads and that Emmerdale has the obvious advantage over EE.
Overall EE still is doing much better than Edale is in the ratings and also gets great ratings for the BBC Three repeat which is Always the highest rated show in its slot.
Emmerdale has the obvious advantage over EE.
Yes that its better written and better acted:)

You really have no idea what your talking about do you?
Emmerdale started 30 minutes before EastEnders and overran into the EastEnders slot, so why would people turn over half way through when they can tape EastEnders, watch it at 10pm or watch on Sunday?
The EE repeat on BBC Three got over 1 million viewers. Still it should return to normal tonight with EastEnders getting far more than Emmerdale as per usual. All it tells people is that 4/5 million Emmerdale fans also watch Eastenders but as they had already started to watch Emmerdale they remained with the show knowning full well they would catch Eastenders later in on of the 3 ways listed above.

your partially right, but up untill the last couple of years most ee fans would have turned over and emmerdale wouldn't have immagined they could win, emmerdales improved,EE has declined also emmerdale can be watched on itv 3 tomorrow, which i would have done a couple of years ago now i watch EE occaisionally and enders is so slow i can catch right up,since as long as i can remember our family never missed an episode of EE and only watched emmerdale occaisionally now its the other way around

I agree, nobody would turn over half way through a show, but if EE was at the same standard it was in the 80's and 90's it would be no contest and people would have turned over.. but on Thursday, was there anything to turn over too??? no!! a build up to an episode the next day which can be watched at 10pm anyways... if Emmerdale was not shown a good episode then people would have switched off so Yeah Alan does know what he is taking about!!
Shiv I hope the time will come when I decide to tape Emmerdale and watch EE as I used to do

according to digital spy ee won last night during the head to head ,,to be honest i didn't see either last night and didn't realise that they were both on for an hour last night
i watched EE, not seen Emmerdale in ages. So i could compare. EE Was good last night in my opinion.
according to digital spy ee won last night during the head to head ,,to be honest i didn't see either last night and didn't realise that they were both on for an hour last night
And from Media Guardian:
EastEnders triumphed in the battle of the soap double bills last night.
Both the BBC1 flagship and ITV1's Emmerdale ran hour-long episodes, going head-to-head between 7.30pm and 8pm.
During that half hour, EastEnders averaged 6.1 million people, while Emmerdale drew 5.6 million.
Overall, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, the BBC1 soap drummed up 7 million viewers and a 34.7% share, according to unofficial overnights.
In comparison, Emmerdale averaged 6.3 million, a 34% share, between 7pm and 8pm.
7 million viewers is a bit disappointing

I'm not too bothered about the ratings anyway (unless EE is winning, ofcourse). :p lol
Ah, so that's why they put EastEnders on for an hour the other night, to rival Emmerdale. I didn't see a lot of sense in there being an hour long episode after a condom packet had been found on Darren's bedroom floor, and especially not on a Tuesday.

well thet went head to head tonight once again,we'll have to wait till tomorrow to see who's won
Not being funny here, but does it really matter?? All these constant head to heads - if you are a fan of both progs, you'll watch all of Emmerdale and then either record/sky + EE or watch on BBC3 for the repeat.
Yes, there was a time when EE would have won hands down, but then again, times change, peoples interests change, the types of programs people like change etc etc and to be honest, what difference does it make?? (thats a hypothetical question btw :) )
exactly, in a few years it will all change again. Every soap has a bad patch.
After last nights superb episode of Emmerdale I will be shocked if it dosent win the head to head this time. Even if I was and EE fan I couldnt have turned it over at 7-30. Emmerdale was so gripping
