recently theres been lots of adverts to try and prevent things, such as giving up smoking, drink driving, that one where the kid gets knocked down cos theyre mucking around with a mobile etc. but do you think these actually work? do they encourage people to give up smoking, or make them think twice before they drink and drive? or are they just a waste of money and get ignored by almost the whole of the population?

yeah some people take note, but probably nowhere near as many. I think the drink driving ones certainly hit home when the advert involves a child or teen in the collison.

I don't think all smokers take notice of the smoking adverts. I think most of them just try to ignore it and put it to the back of their mind, mainly because they don't want to give up and have no intention of doing so. But I definitely think most people take notice of the drink driving adverts, because they're so traumatic and shocking.
i think some definatly work especially the ones that touch you emoptionally. Such as the one about hitting the little girl at 30 mph instead 40. Smoking i think is a different issue altogether.

i dont think it does.
someone like me will watch the drink driving adverts and be horrified but then i would never never drink drive. those who drink then drive will prob watch it then still drink drive next time.
