Hey all,
My computer has broken and has been sent away for repair. I don't know how long it will be but the man who is trying to fix it is really slow. What happened was that was the backlight on my laptop stopped working and I was straning my eyes to see the screen, and the mouse wouldn't move in order for me to log on. Has trhis ever happened to anyone before?

I am not having a go at you AngelTigger but if I recall, you had the LONGEST GOOD BYE theme , and when you came back you wrote 2 pages of what you did while you were off line .. so what Kim is doing is OK in my eyes:searchme:

I'm kind of back now, but the backlight still isn't working. For those of you that were worrying that the same thing may happen to you, theman that looked at our computer said that it is really rare that the backlight in a laptop goes. He said to take the computer back under warranty and get them to have it sent away and the bulb in the screen replaced. Does anyone know how long the warranty period on computers is?

The man didn't do anything to it because it would disable the warranty if he had taken it apart. It just started working one day and we came to the conclusion that it was something to do with this little button on the laptop. However, it wouldn't work on sunday night or at all yesterday so it's a bit of hit and miss. I have a lot of projects to do at the moment so with a bit of luck I may be able to talk my dad into getting a screen to plug into it.
It's gone again now :mad:. I could scream as I have 3 assesments to do for which I need the computer as they are also being assesed for my ICT level.

At least this way you can get your Dad to get it fixed, because it's for actual work and not spending you time on here, lol :)
The projects are due in before it will come back from repair, knowing the man that fixes our computer, that's the only problem.

Aww, I guess you'll have to do it on a school or library computer then :(
I won't be going there, for one it takes me ages to do my best work and this boy that is picking on me is always up there. I guess I'll have to get my Dad to buy a second hand computer screen for the time being and make do with it.

Aww, well at least that's one good thing - our computer's downstairs which can get annoying as I have no privacy, but there's the laptop up here when my sis ain't hoggint it lol :)
And now the screen seems to have developed a new tactic - work for about a second and then break again, eventually going into standby and signing me out of MSN.

I'm sure it will work eventually, just got to be patient lol.
My Dad had the computer sent away again. This person seemed to know a bit more about computers than the other one and he said that the switch that is stopping the screen from working properly is part of a large circuit, and that he didn't know how to fix it. Anyway, we should be getting a new screen tomorrow:) But i'm not allowed it in my room :wall:

why do you need it in your room so much?
I don't really need it there, I just want it up there because it's warmer up there and I always have to listen to whatever my dad chooses to watch on the Tv whenever I am on the computer. Finally got the screen anyway.
