its not actually the second season - its the remaining half of the first. The show went on a 3/4 month hiatus (a lot of american programmes - like ALias - go on long winter hiatus).
Second season airs in the fall :D

ive seen episode 15.
im gonna post spoilers now..so be dont read if you dont want to know!!!
at the start of episode 15, lincoln is being strapped to the electric chair - michael and his lawyer are watching..along with some news reporters. they are just about to press the button when the phone rings. its the judge saying there has been more evidence in the case and the execution will be postponed for 2 weeks.
the evidence is medical records of the murdered guy, which dont match with the medical records of the murdered person (supposedly the same guy).
so they dig up the body, but it has been cleverly placed in a biodegradeable coffin etc. so it is really deteriorated and the only thing that can confirm if its the right guy is dental records. and apparently they match.
meanwhile michael starts on a new escape effort which involves going across the rec. yard and into the psych ward. he checks out the route at night and steals a guards uniform so he doesnt get shot when he walks across the yard.
on his way back, he is in the boiler room type thing where another guard walks in. he hides - but the only way of not being noticed is to press his back up against a hot pipe. in the process he gets severe burns to his back.
when he gets back to his cell, he rips off the guards uniform and then gets sent to the infirmary. thinking he has disposed of the uniform, he relaxes. however, the doctor finds some material in his burn wound and realises it is guards uniform.
at the end of the episode, michael looks at his back and his wound..to reveal that the burn has destroyed the bit of the tatoo that he needs to escape - disaster!!
and finally..we see CCTV footage of the anonymous "extra evidence" being delivered to the judge. when we zoom in, we see that its lincoln and michaels father (who they havent seen in like 30 yrs)!!

This is the one that is being shown in the USA at the moment isnt it. I heard a rumour that "the pope" the prison governer that michael is building the "Taj Mahal" for is his dad

Sorry I met to say that the governer turns out to be michaels dad
I remember him getting blackmailed by those guys over his son who supposedly died - oooh this could be good!

yeah..that could be a theory although lincoln though that he saw his dad at his exectuion (posing as a reporter).

'Prison Break' confirmed for second season
Prison Break has been greenlit through the 2006-07 season, FOX confirmed today.
The news comes just a week after the cult drama's return from a lengthy hiatus to impressive ratings: figures for its Monday 8pm slot are up a solid 57% in 18-49.
Executive producer Matt Olmstead told Variety that the second season would focus on the newly-escaped prisoners as they attempt to elude capture. "Season two is basically 'Prison Break: Manhunt'," he said. "It's constant pursuit. No one's safe. No one retires to their home in the country."
The series will continue to shoot in Chicago for the first thirteen episodes but will relocate to New Mexico or somewhere in the South West for the final nine. Production will most likely begin in June for a premiere in late August or early September.
Olmstead also revealed that three characters will die in the final two episodes of the current season, including one of the core eight prisoners.
