Charlotte Church will not be able to visit her mother in The Priory rehab clinic.
The singer is paying for Maria Church to receive treatment for drinking and self-harm problems, but has been told that her arrival at the centre could unsettle her mother and other patients.
A family friend told the Daily Star, "Charlotte is determined to give her mum as much help as she can and if that means spending some time apart then she is ready for that. It will be tough for both of them.
"They are very close although they don't have a typical mother-daughter relationship. Charlotte is paying for the treatment and will get daily reports on how she is doing."
