Eleven. She doesn't have a car yet and she's underestimating how much petrol is. Bless her though, she's as excited as a kid at Christmas :D

i couldnt be without my car now. once you have driven you cant imagine not driving. even if you think you couldnt do it, once you have learned it becomes second nature.
I'm to young to drive but 3 more years then i can learn and congratulations to you're mum.

I'm doing lessons at the moment and I love it! My instructor takes me round the Industrial Estate because it's really quiet but I also go with my mum in her car because she got me insured :D

I always said I'd have lessons as soon as I was 17 but I didn't then I did start having lessons for about 6 months but had to go to uni then so that was a complete waste of time. Although thinking about doing an intensive course in the summer because I really want to be able to drive. What do people think about intensive courses has anyone done one? The thing is if you failing after having done one its an awful waste of money.
I passed when I was still 17 - just. It took me 10 months, 80 lessons and 5 attempts. I have now been driving for 24 years, and if I can do it - anyone can!

I passed my test just over 2 years ago its one of the best thing i ever did so much freedom just get in the car and go..
I could not live without a car now i enjoy driving..
Congrats to your mum
I have driven for too many years to mention now,I passed on my second test,The first test I only had family lessons. I then had 5 lessons only at a driving school and passed.I then went on to pass the polcie driving course too.which makes me a advance driver :cheer: I would be lost if I couldn't drive as I work late into the night, and wouldn't want to catch the night bus.
congrats to your mum. driving's like riding a bike! you never forget it.

Congrats to your mum anna :cheer:
I'm going to take lessons as soon as I'm 17, but I dont think i'll be much good at it!
I'm absolutly terrified of driving a car, I know I'll crash into a pedestrian who is a 100 yards away :p
i was always scared of hitting someone too but now i am perfectly fine, i am worried that someone will hit me in the back end when i am at a roundabout!! but it has not happened yet!!

ive filled in the form for my provisional license so far lol! i want to drive but even if i did lessons and pass my test my mum says i cant drive her car lol!
I can imagine myself getting stuck in a roundabout for at least half an hour. It looks so difficult. Driving along on a motorway seems quite safe though, no traffic lights or car parking, seems quite easy :)
its just all practice really!!! i really hate roundabouts
i learnt in bletchley and milton keynes and there are so many roundabouts there!!!!
Is it true that there are no roundabouts in the US, I'm sure I heard that there isn't???
i don't think there are!!!, i remember on the simpsons ep where they came to london and they got stuck on a roundabout!!!

where i live you have to keep giving way. so when i finally do learn to drive i will have to keep giving way.
Don't think there are roundabouts in America as i never seen any

Driving along on a motorway seems quite safe though, no traffic lights or car parking, seems quite easy :) Round abouts are easy, as long as you give way and don't just pull out, like some drivers. Motorways are not easy or as safe as you might think, true they have no traffic lights, but cars are moving and over taking at 70mph,plus that fact that many large lorries use the motorway, you have to have your wits about you all the times.

Very often, someone will put out to overtake not realising you are there so, you have to change lanes quickly, but need to be able to know whether or not it is safe to. Roundabouts are actually a lot easier than you think and when you start to learn to drive, you always think you won't be able to do it, but as soon as you pass your test, within 6 months, you'll wonder what you were worried about.
And no, America doesn't have any roundabouts... :D
Thanks a lot both of you :) I'll try and be more weary now
