Abi

2lb 10oz...basically tiny!!

Shes 3 months premature as well. My cousin was pregnant with twins to start with, but lost one of them. All in all, its not great

So any ideas how much on average she should have weighed?

I know, its tiny, its touch and go as to how she'll do. I hope shes ok, my cousins getting on a bit, and has been trying for ages to have a baby.

I was premature and weighed the equivilent to a bag and a half of sugar. I think the average weight for a baby is 7 pounds or something like that.

I hope she's ok.

Her life is complicated already! Her Twin died, she was born premature, and as my cousin only has partical hearing, she could be deaf as well. Poor little girl.

my niece is 16 now and when she was born she was only 2lb in weight cause stopped feeding of my sister's placenta when my sister was 6 months pregnant. She had to be wrapped in tin foil and wear a hat and gloves to keep her warm. She now looks like vicky pollard its hard to imagine her being so small. they have lost more advance machines and procedures now that they are able to save a lot more babies I'm sure the little one willl be a fighter

I think it sounds like a good weight for a baby so premature. I hope she's ok. Prem babies are surprisingly resilient. My friend had her son at 23 weeks of pregnancy, and he was in special care for nearly5 months. He's now a crazy 4 year old! He's a little on the small side, but he will probably catch up. I am thinking of your family. It must be very difficult for you all at the moment. Keep us posted

Well shes now 2lb 14 and a half oz. Shes moved from the red area for babies that need loads of care, to the green area, so shes getting a lot better. We're hoping she reaches 3lb over the weekend

thought i'd give you a quick update :D

she was discharged from hospital yesterday. She's now 5lb 5oz, so has gone home with big canisters of oxygen. She's still got to be attached to them, to help her breathing, but everything else has been taken off her, hence her being able to go home!
