i agree with you but they were voted into power. I think comprimise is the key to peace. If hamas agreed to change their policies on terrorism maybe a peaceful solution is possible.
Definately NOT. Hamas have stated they want the total destruction of the state of Israel. Enough said.

I agree. I think it shows once again how the Palestinians always jump the shark when it comes to making peace with Israel. The number of times Arafat rejected very generous amounts of land offered to him on a plate, and now this, shows that the Palestinians are not interested in peace, but the annihilation of Israel from the map.
Now that Hamas have been democratically elected to power, maybe we should give them time to renounce violence.
I love the way western countries want to impose democracy on other countries and then get so annoyed when the indiginous population don't vote the way the west want them too.
I always wonder why Isreal cannot empathise more with the Palastinians. They were in the wilderness for 2000 odd years, surely they know what it is like to have maps redrawn around you and be left landless.
yes i think they should
why?

I'll give Hamas a chance, but I'm not so hopeful.
As I said, the Israelis have already surrendered a fair amount of land to the Palestinians, and should rightly offer them more land, but the Palestinians don't seem to be able to grasp the opportunities they are given.
It is a really sad, and very ingrained situation.
Really violence can never be the answer, and peace will only come when people can talk.
If you go back 60 years the Israelise were considered terrorists.
The isn't much difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter, it is just perspective.
Todays Terrorist Is Tomorrows Statesman.
Still doesnt make it right.
Look at all the people who the British Government regarded as terrorists years ago
Jomo Kenyatta, Nelson Mandela, Gerry Adams, Menachem Begin, Archbishop Markarios, the Americans, Ho Chi Minh
Look at the people the British Govennment regarded as statesmen years ago
Nicoleau Chaucescau, The Taliban, Saddam Hussein, Kim Ill Sung

It doesn't make if right, but surely with history as you describe, both sides should quit their hardline positions and inject a bit of tolerance and understanding into the procedings.
Why can noone say both sides have done wrong, lets move on from here?
