Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question but i was just asking as i didn't bother watching the 1st series and i have watched episode one and it just highlighted what happened in series 1 so i was just wondering if you had to watch series 1 to understand this series? I am watching episode 2 tonight on channel 4 at 7:10 so i haven't seen that episode yet.

i think one day i will watch season1 then season2 as everyone goes on about it.
all you need to know really is this:
the narrator is called Mary Alice Young, she killed herself because someone was blackmailing her. She'd brought up a baby (zach, the boy with glasses), of a drug addict (detra) but she came back for the baby and her and her husband killed her. Years later she was blackmailed and she commited suicide. Mike (susans bloke) was in love with Detra and peiced togetehr to clues to her death and learnt that Zach was his son.
Susan got with Mike in the last series, despite her ex wanting to get back with her and Eddie (the local sex mad slapper) trying to split them up.
Lynette was a stay at home mom and had loads of comical moments looking after her misbheaving kids. Her husband went to work and it had strains on their marriage, it has now been reversed.
Gabrielle is married to Carlos (the man in jail) but she was having an affair with the gardener John. This carried on troughout the series and Carlos was sent to jail for beating up two gay men, who he thought was who Gabrielle was having an affair with. Gabrielle became pregnant but whos the father?
Bree was obssesed with having the perfect family, and her husband Rex (now dead) wanted a divorce, they salvaged their marriage but she got close to some mad doctor who in the end got rid of Rex by messing with his medication.
Bree's son Andrew is gay and is seeing Johns gay friend, but no one knows this yet...
hope this has cleared up some unanswered questions :)

Yes it has thanks bondboffin :) I understand it a bit better now as i saw the last 10 minuites of the last episode of the last series and i saw these two people stab the woman who wanted her baby back (obviously that was the drug addict you just explained about) but now it makes a lot more sense. Thanks very much :)

i dont think you really need to watch the first series but thats just my opinion. Its fairly easy to get hold of the first series if you do want to watch it
