View Full Version : Conceiving the Sex of Your Choice?

Has anyone tried specifically to have a baby girl/boy, and done it?

The reason I ask is, I have 3 boys and would desperatley love to have a girl. I lost a little girl before my last son was born, so this makes things a little 'tender' on this subject. I'm hoping to start trying possibly at the end of the year.

Just wondered if anyone had managed it!

Thanks.

:)

Thought I'd better add that I don't agree with medical intervention in this. This is with regard to conceiving through diets, using the timing method, or any other 'wives tales' heard!

You may want to look at this thread - it correctly predicted all of my childrens sex's (they're 3 boys too) - though it is only for fun.

i have only been pregnant once and i had a girl but i would not have minded if she was a boy. I cant imagine what you must have gone through so i hope you get your wish and be blessed with a girl. If not i will sell you a very healthy house trained 7 year old drama queen :D

Will she still be house trained at 13 when her hormones kick in though Kath?? :D :rotfl:

Seriously though, I hope all of your dreams come true - it must be awful to go through the pain of losing a child....

This article may be of use to you.......

Just says that the baby's sex is determined at the point of conception and nothing can change this afterwards.

But if you have a diet rich in milk, beans, cereals, cheese and nuts this favours a girl, whereas a diet rich in fish, meat and veg this seems to favour a boy

My midwives told me that it also appears that women who eat spicy foods (currys etc) seem to have more girls than boys.

Sometimes, the timing of conception can help - boys swim fast but don't last very long (nothing new there then :rotfl: ) whereas girls swim slower but last longer, so you are supposedly more likely to conceive a girl if its before ovulation and a boy after..

Thanks for the replies people. I may be tempted by your offer Chloe, one day!!

I think the most reliable out off all options is the timing of intercourse in relation to ovulation. My mother in law tried that as they wanted a girl after my husband was born. It worked for them! I shall read the links that you've provided, and see what the future holds - fingers crossed!

Thanks again.

I've just checked the Chinese Gender Chart. And I'm going to rain on your parade so to speak. It got my first born right, boy, but according to that my next 2 sons should've been girls. :( Oh well, I won't rely on that one!!

Sorry to drag up an old thread ... but thought I'd give you an update. :p

After being desperate for a girl after 3 boys, I found out I was pregnant in Sept 06. Unfortunately I miscarried a few days later. That was the second time I'd lost a baby so took it very badly.

Then, on New Years Eve 06 I discovered I was pregnant again. And am pleased to let you all know I got my wish of a baby girl. :cheer: She was born on 28 August 2007 weighing 7lb 2oz. She's named Lilac Anne in loving memory of my Nan.

I used the timing method for those that wish to know, proof it worked for me. And those gender prediction things were also on target aswell!

To say I'm chuffed is an understatement ... but she's much more of a handful than my boys were!! LOL.

Thanks for reading ... and hopefully I'll get to post more if Lilac lets me! :D

Same here.. I didn't mind wether my two were boys or girls and I was very lucky to get one of each.

congrats and I am glad you got your girl in the end Marsbar... hope she brings you many many years of joy (watch for when she turn 4, she will tell you what she wants to wear if she is anything like my little one)
