animals are born a certain way so they should be kept the same. ther is no reason or acceptable r4eason on why it should change.

How are we talking though?? I mean, if you look at cross breeds - they are technically genetically modified, like dogs for example - a lot of different breeds have been borne this way, so is this wrong and would you class it as genetic modification or do you mean modifying breeds some how else???

Cloning animals... so they look exactly the same and usually act the same too..

i don't like intentional gentical modification- things are born in a certain way and thats how they are

I don't agree with it, whats the point of having two animals exactly alike? Its cruel and unnecessary.

Cloning and GM are two different things.

Cloning and GM are two different things.Thats what I thought NB - I'm wondering what is meant exactly, as to me GM would be like I said in my previous post, or something like that anyway. Or am I completely of the boil in that thought?? :searchme:

Cross breeding isn't GM. 99.9% of the time nature will not let you crossbreed between two different species. It does happen as you get Ligers etc (cross between a Lion and Tiger).

GM is to do with modifying the sequence of genes. It has its uses as gene theraphy can cure a lot of illnesses, but as with anything new, we don't know the consequences.

Its a difficult one, there could be so many cures created through this, but we dont know the consequences or results of these actions, yet without testing it, we won't ever find out - do we just let nature takes its course with these things, or try to create cures for so many of the illnesses that there are....which is the better..?

We did this about tomatoes in science. At first I thought it was wrong but after a debate about it, I came round to agreeing with it. However, a tomato doesn't have a life, I believe that genetically modifying any animal is wrong.

I had a assesement on this yesterday!

I dont like the idea, Its not really unaviodable. And things can go way to wrong and cause super bugs, which cannot be controlled. Genetic monification is playing with things were do not understand fully as yet as we only discovered DNA 35 years ago and its reached its current state after 4 billion years.
