'Reservoir Dogs' actor Chris Penn has died.
The 40-year-old's body was discovered by the maid at his Santa Monica apartment yesterday morning (24.1.06).
It is not yet clear how he passed away but police in Los Angeles are not treating the death as suspicious.
Penn, the brother of Oscar winning actor Sean, starred in over 50 movies including 'True Romance', 'Mulholland Falls' and 'Rush Hour'.
In 1986 he starred alongside his older brother in 'At Close Range'.
It was the only time they ever appeared in a movie together.
Chris was best known for his role as 'Nice Guy Eddie Cabot' in the 1992 Quentin Tarantino film 'Reservoir Dogs'.
David McWater, the owner of a New York bar named after Penn's character in the violent film, has paid tribute to the actor who attended the opening.
He said: "He was real nice... approachable, just one of the guys. He wasn't standoffish, not trying to be star.
"I always thought he was underrated. When he wanted to be, he was a really good actor. Chris Penn's latest film, 'The Darwin Awards', was scheduled to premiere today (25.01.06) at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
