With the influx of newbies that have come in the past few months and the arrival yesterday of Bradley, it got me thinking about whether any of the recent arrivals have actually been any good and if they bring anything to the show.

Naomi:
Crap, rubbish, boring, bland, waste of space etc etc. What a completly useless character she is, IMO. She is more like a plot device to cause trouble between Martin and Sonia than a character in her own right. I don't think I will ever warm to her as a character and I really did try but there is something about her that leaves me cold. Her acting is pretty crappy as well.
Verdict: :thumbsdow A one way ticket to Manchester for her.

Dawn:
Not as bad as Naomi but her involvement in the dreary Wellard storyline did her no favours. I thought she was okay in her first episode, considering she was introduced during those appalling France episodes but she has not improved, IMO. I don't hate her like I hate Naomi but I don't like her either, she is just blah.
Verdict: :hmm: I'll give her another six months before buying her a one way ticket back to France.

Joe:
I like Joe. He will never be an exciting character but he is a older normal, solid character who makes Pauline smile (well, most of the time). No doubt he has some big secret that will come out in the next few months. Maybe he is the real father of an existing Walfordian or maybe he killed his wife with an ashtray or a doggy doorstop. Afterall normal and Walford does not go together.
Verdict:  He deserves to stay just for making Pauline smile. If he was axed, who else would take up the task?

Honey:
She seems okay IMO, she makes Billy happy and she is sweet but does she have to be so flipping thick and dozy?!? Being that thick, dozy and naive is bearable for a while but it gets very annoying, very quickly. I never thought anyone could be as dozy as Little Mo but EE has proved me wrong yet again. Everytime I see her I think of Little Mo and I half expect her to start saying "Ooh, Bill-ay" just like Little Mo did. I wonder if Honey's secret will be that she has a crazy, abusive ex who decides to stalk her before dying in a fire in the Square?
Verdict: :hmm: IMO, she needs to drop the Little Mo clone act she has got going on. I think she should stay but if her and Billy have some pathetic, dozy, sappy, sickly sweet, twee relationship like Little Mo and Billy had then she will have to go.

Deano:
I liked him in his first episode when he got Pauline confused with Pat but I can't stand him now. Good looking but nothing going on in his head, bit like Jamie Mitchell really. His involvement in the Wellard storyline sucked as well.
Verdict: :hmm: He might get better when he gets a decent storyline so I'll give him a few more months before I write him of as a disliked EE character of mine.

Bradley:
So far, so good. Sweet and non-typical teenage character. Enjoyed his first episode but then I liked Deano and Dawn on the evidence of their first episodes so that does not say very much.
Verdict: :hmm: Too early to judge but a good prospect as long as the Walford Personality Transplant Unit keep their filthy hands off him.

All in all, most of the recent EE arrivals have been pretty crappy and a bit of a disappointment IMO, bar Joe and maybe Bradley. :thumbsdow

Hehe I have to love you to disagree with you.

I enjoy Dawn, however whereas you liked her at first, I hated her. Now, I have grown to her and I'm really digging her - exspecially the constant "no"'s she gives deano and stuff. Her attitude is great!

Naomi, I think I will agree with you. I think she was hired for the SOLE PURPOSE of making Martin & Sonia's relationship a living hell. No point to her, and she is kinda idiotic and a waste of space.

Joe, he is alright, not alot of comments on him.

Deano...well, I liked him in his first few episodes - exspecially the parts you mentioned about Pat & Pauline. That was funny, now he is becomming an idiot.

Honey, classic character. She is a little mo without the abuse, and without the brains! She is thick and I like that. Last night was HILARIOUS.

Bradley...I don't like him. He seems a little too innocent for me.

Have to agree with Florijo. My order of preference is a little different though. The worst character by far is Dawn. Totally self obsessed, manipulative and a one way ticket to France should be arranged immediately.

Naomi I've tried to like and have failed miserably.

Joe is great and Bradley I've taken an instant liking too. Deano is awful. A match for Dawn really...

well out of the newbies i do like deano although spiking staceys drink last night was pretty awful but i think he can pull off some pretty good storylines

i also like dawn i dont know why maybe it is because she is self obsessed and manipulative and she isnt scared to speak her mind

naomi hate the charcter completley dont want to talk about her

deano is really funny and even after spiking stacys drink remains likeable and could be a wicked character

joe nice guy and all but he gets on my nerves on the christmas episodes i didnt like the way he got involved with martin and sonia even though it needed to be said but somethign about him i dislike

dawn dont mind dawn great addition to eastenders and the milers hopefully will get with jake

honey i think this is meant to be the new 'little mo' dunno what she can do after billy

bradley is a really diffrent charcter and really refreshing to ee and one of the few that work outside walford

so my faviroute newcomer:bradly hopefully they wont change his character by giving him a dark secret in his past or something stupid

My favourite newcomers are Dawn, Bradley and Joe.

Naomi: She is just a plot device to cause trouble between Sonia and Martin. Her first storyline that actually told us anything about her was about 3 months after she came in and by that point nobody was bothered about her, made worse by the fact that the storyline was crap anyway. That was also turned into yet more trouble between Sonia and Martin, rather than actually focusing on Naomi's own trouble with coming out, her feelings for Sonia etc. Not to mention it's all been brushed under the carpet now - is she gay, is she bi, is she straight and just confused about Sonia? And more importantly -- does anyone actually care.

This character hasn't worked at all, and to be honest I'm not sure whether they can do anything to turn her around. While it takes time for a character to show their true potential, they also have to have something that grabs you straight away and makes you want to see their true potential and watch them develop. For me, Naomi hasn't got that.

Dawn: Again, agree that the Wellard storyline did her no favours, just like it did no one involved any favours. (I notice now it's over Wellard has disappeared again.) I still like her though. Like I was saying with Naomi, characters have to grab you, and Dawn grabbed me, which looking at her storylines (FranceWeek, Boob job, Free Wellard and Magic Money) is surprising. I don't think she's shown her full potential yet, or even anywhere near it, but something about her makes me want to see what she can do. I also think a Dawn/Jake pairing would be good, and I hope they do that rather than Dawn/Deano which in my mind would be rather dreary.

Joe: I like Joe. He's done the best in fitting in - not shoved in our faces, but not horribly negleted like Naomi. He's been gradually been brought in, and now it feels totally natural to see him around at Pauline's or in the pub, whereas with some of the others they still send up "new character," signals. I like his sense of humour, and think he goes with Pauline well - they're different personalities, but they fit, especially when he brings out Pauline's humerous side as well.

Honey: Not sure about Honey. Her ditziness is amusing, but it's stretching credibility that she can be that ditzy yet not get run over on the way to work every morning. I don't see any real depth to her character, and it feels she's just there to be a ditzy barmaid.

Deano: My opinion on Deano changes each episode. I really liked him the first week, bar the Wellard story. I don't find him especially attractive though -- just a manufactured boy band clone, but I suppose he pleases the tweenies which I feel is what he's there to do. Both the writing, and Matt Di Angelo's acting did a good job of making me feel for Deano on Friday, despite what he did, and I see more depth there than Naomi and Honey. But other episodes he's just another cheeky chappy which gets boring easily.

Bradley: Really liking Bradley, although it's a little too early to tell, especially given EE's liking for personality transplants. He's a very different character to Deano, and the usual teenagers we get in soaps, which is good. Don't have as much to say on him as I do the others as he's only just arrived, but I'm looking forward to seeing more of him.

And weirdly, I wrote the most on Naomi, who is my least favourite of the new arrivals,
