With the influx of newbies that have come in the past few months and the arrival yesterday of Bradley, it got me thinking about whether any of the recent arrivals have actually been any good and if they bring anything to the show.
Naomi:
Crap, rubbish, boring, bland, waste of space etc etc. What a completly useless character she is, IMO. She is more like a plot device to cause trouble between Martin and Sonia than a character in her own right. I don't think I will ever warm to her as a character and I really did try but there is something about her that leaves me cold. Her acting is pretty crappy as well.
Verdict: :thumbsdow A one way ticket to Manchester for her.
Dawn:
Not as bad as Naomi but her involvement in the dreary Wellard storyline did her no favours. I thought she was okay in her first episode, considering she was introduced during those appalling France episodes but she has not improved, IMO. I don't hate her like I hate Naomi but I don't like her either, she is just blah.
Verdict: :hmm: I'll give her another six months before buying her a one way ticket back to France.
Joe:
I like Joe. He will never be an exciting character but he is a older normal, solid character who makes Pauline smile (well, most of the time). No doubt he has some big secret that will come out in the next few months. Maybe he is the real father of an existing Walfordian or maybe he killed his wife with an ashtray or a doggy doorstop. Afterall normal and Walford does not go together.
Verdict:  He deserves to stay just for making Pauline smile. If he was axed, who else would take up the task?
Honey:
She seems okay IMO, she makes Billy happy and she is sweet but does she have to be so flipping thick and dozy?!? Being that thick, dozy and naive is bearable for a while but it gets very annoying, very quickly. I never thought anyone could be as dozy as Little Mo but EE has proved me wrong yet again. Everytime I see her I think of Little Mo and I half expect her to start saying "Ooh, Bill-ay" just like Little Mo did. I wonder if Honey's secret will be that she has a crazy, abusive ex who decides to stalk her before dying in a fire in the Square?
Verdict: :hmm: IMO, she needs to drop the Little Mo clone act she has got going on. I think she should stay but if her and Billy have some pathetic, dozy, sappy, sickly sweet, twee relationship like Little Mo and Billy had then she will have to go.
Deano:
I liked him in his first episode when he got Pauline confused with Pat but I can't stand him now. Good looking but nothing going on in his head, bit like Jamie Mitchell really. His involvement in the Wellard storyline sucked as well.
Verdict: :hmm: He might get better when he gets a decent storyline so I'll give him a few more months before I write him of as a disliked EE character of mine.
Bradley:
So far, so good. Sweet and non-typical teenage character. Enjoyed his first episode but then I liked Deano and Dawn on the evidence of their first episodes so that does not say very much.
Verdict: :hmm: Too early to judge but a good prospect as long as the Walford Personality Transplant Unit keep their filthy hands off him.
All in all, most of the recent EE arrivals have been pretty crappy and a bit of a disappointment IMO, bar Joe and maybe Bradley. :thumbsdow
