i am hoping it does as long as it meant that there would be more police officer on the beat and not tied up doing office work

I don't personally think it will and I know Devon & Cornwall Constab were one of those that told them where to stick the idea too - ours is search a huge area, why make it even bigger by merging it with Avon & Somerset - I can't really see the point in it, especially when our force has been improving with their "stats" over the years...

i dont think it will, new measures brought out are always money saving measures and it always seems to make thing less efficient.

no- it will become less efficient because they will have to generalise what they do, and it will be harder to look at one small area in one area without it affecting everyone across the forces which merge

I hope things would improve, but I dont think they would.

Yeh In cornwall I had to wait 45 minutes for a police car to arrive to 5 minutes away from the station after calling 999. If they merged even more this would be even longer.
Its just stupid the idea of merging devon and cornwall with avon and sumerset.
