Whilst celebrating his cousin Dominic’s (Gabriel Fleary) engagement party, PC Lewis Hardy (Aml Ameen) is caught up in a dramatic shooting incident at a nightclub. DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel), and DCs Suzie Sim (Wendy Kweh) and Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) attend the scene and after taking statements, come to the conclusion that the attack was black on black gang related and DS Shand (Dorian Lough) from Trident’s crime unit comes in to manage the investigation.

Fearing retaliations from the local gang, and to try and stop the incident from escalating into a gang war, Acting Sergeant Yvonne Hemmingway (Michele Austin) asks the relief to keep a visible, low-key presence to reassure the community that everything is under control. Local kid, Jordan Tomlin (Charles Mnene) is soon found on the nightclub CCTV after breaking his curfew and Neil and Mickey bribe him to give them information about the shooting or they will put him back inside the young offenders’ institute.

Lewis is stunned when he discovers that his cousin, Dominic carries a gun, and after the girlfriend of one of the gang leaders is shot down in a drive by, narrowly missing Shand and Mickey, Lewis is distraught to find himself torn between his family and his career.

Meanwhile, DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) quietly tells Suzie that DS Ramani De Costa (Thusitha Jayasundera) is leaving and Suzie realises this could be her chance for promotion. He also confides that his estranged wife has left to work in Spain and he is soon to be a single parent. How will the seemingly tough DI cope on his own?

Also, DC Jo Masters (Sally Rogers) is surprised to be contacted by her old supergrass, Seth Mercer (Philip Martin Brown) who asks for information on a dodgy business associate in Nottingham. After scratching the surface, Jo wonders what he is really after…

THE BILL is a talkbackTHAMES production and a direct commission by ITV. This episode was written by Simon Moss, directed by Richard Standeven and produced by Lis Steele.

Sun Hill CID continue to assist Trident in their investigation into the outbreak of shootings amongst the local gangs. DC Mickey Webb (Chris Simmons) and DS Shand (Dorian Lough) use Jordan Tomlin (Charles Mnene) to make some headway and through tough tactics, eventually get a member of one of the gangs to agree to testify.

PC Lewis Hardy (Aml Ameen) and PC Roger Valentine (John Bowler) continue to deal with the gang violence in the community and the gulf between Lewis and his cousin, Dominic (Gabriel Fleary) widens when Lewis is held at gun point by a friend of Dominic’s.

Some vital information from Jordan and an extremely risky operation brings down the leaders of both gangs en route to a showdown. And with the violent ring leaders in custody, DS Shand (Dorian Lough) and Superintendent Adam Okaro (Cyril Nri) hope some peace and harmony will return to the streets.

Meanwhile, PC’s Emma Keane (Melanie Gutteridge), Leela Kapoor (Seema Bowri) and Honey Harman (Kim Tiddy) continue to investigate the domestic disturbance which soon develops into a missing persons’ case. After questioning the timid husband on the disappearance of his cheating wife, the PCs are horrified to discover the worst case scenario.

Feeling ostracised by his community, Lewis attempts to embrace the police as his new family and makes a conscious effort to go for drinks with Roger and the rest of the relief and join in the banter.

Also, DC Jo Master’s (Sally Rogers) investigation into Seth’s (Philip Martin Brown) associate unearths illegal arms trading. He attempts to persuade her to go undercover with the Nottingham Police, but will she accept?

I'm pleased about that and I am hoping that Ramani is leaving. It will be interesting to see how some people react to it.

I was hoping Terry & Ramani would end up together, shame, why can`t there ever be any happy endings.

Perhaps Ramani leaving will push Terry in to admitting his feelings?

Does anyone know how long before Smithy is found innocent?

I got an apology from Will, which was good.

I think Ramani might be going though - she has started to say she's had enough of CSU
