I don't know if many SB members will remember this drama, which was on tv away back in the early 80's it was called "Roots" and it was about black slavery and it told the story of 5 generations from "kuta Kinty" the first generation through to "Alex hayley" who wrote the story. It was an unbelieveable brilliant programme which was traumatic to watch but brilliantly produced. Anyway I got the DVD boxset of it for my sister for her xmas and i have started to watch it again and i just wondered if anyone else remembered it

I remember it well, I was glued to the tv each week to watch it, Also remember chicken George, and the wedding where they just jumped over the broom stick. It was a brilliant production, and a great insight into what went on with the slavery of years gone by.

It was a fantastic series - we didn't miss an episode in our household. How has it aged? I suppose historical drama is not so likely to get dated.
