it should be government ministers after all that is why we vote for them. But it should not just apply to schools if someone has appeared on a sex offenders list for any reason then they should not be working with children or young people at any level

Should be a expert panel made up of police, headteachers, social workers and government people.

I think it has to be people who are really capable of making that decision. Obviously govt ministers seem to find it OK to allow sex offenders in our schools and that really doesn't make me that trustworthy of them. I'm still at school and I hate to think that a govt minister could allow a sex offender to teach at my school. It needs to be an exprt panel I feel, people who really understand schools and how a sex offenders mind really works. Though I canot justify why any sex offender should be allowed anything to do with children.

the fact is, no one should be allowed into school if the have a sex offence so no decision needs to be made. even if youve never commited a physical offence but have, for instance, downloaded images of kids on the pc, then you have an unhealthy attitude towards kids and are a threat to them.

This is a difficult one though - no-one with any kind of sex offences should be in our schools, but look at the case highlighted a week or so ago, where the teacher was done for having relations with a 15 year old (although, they supposedly didn't have sex), but then they got married and stayed married for 17 odd years. Is this also classed a someone who shouldn't work in schools ?? It is certainly something that needs dealing with and dealing with very quickly - how many of our children are at risk every day of their lives in school, without any of us knowing....

I think an expert panel should decide.

i think an expert panel- completely unattached to the government so there wouldn't be any 'letting through because they think they won't do it again'

Headteachers, If a 16 year old has sex with a 15year old they can get a criminal record but they should still be allowed to work in school.it depends on the circumstances.

headteachers, if they know a teacher is on the sex offenders list them she shoud definaltly not be allowed in schools. Its so out of order.
