Police have seized Pete Burn's "Gorilla" coat amid complaints from viewers.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "The coat will now be tested."
A spokesman for the Channel 4 programme confirmed the fur had been taken.
"We have passed the coat to police for investigation. Pete is aware of the situation."
Burns could face jail for wearing a gorilla fur. Owning a gorilla skin without a permit is illegal in the UK.

Haha shame!!! I wonder if they will show it on TV him being called to the Diary Room with his coat! I bet they wont show it
I think they might after all, he will probably be going on about it all day/night anyway to the other housemates. Also because the police acted because of the complaints from viewers maybe there will be some kind of anoucement or something so that people are aware action has been taken.

Did he acctually admit to knwoing it was gorilla fur when he bought it? Because if he just said that it might have been how can he be imprisoned? Surely they'd have to prove that he bought it while having full knowledge of it being gorilla fur and that he acctually intended to buy a gorilla fur coat? Its like when you buy stolen goods they have to prove whether or not u knew it was stolen when you bought it before they can prosecute and do you for handling?

Apparently the matter has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service to decide whether the coat contravenes importation rules.

I hope they can - he'll join Barrymore then in facing court proceedings when he comes out of the house!
And George maybe punished by the queen (and i don't mean pete :rotfl: ) so that is 3 of them now that are facing some sort of action when they leave

Pete angry over removal of fur coat
Pete is not taking the loss of his fur coat well.
The police removed Pete's fur coat yesterday after a number of viewers complained about its illegality.
Unimpressed with its extraction, Pete declared: "It's not a victory for the fur campaigners. People want what they can't have - that's why there are perfumes called 'Addict' and 'Poison.' It's stifling human freedom! I hope there's a huge demand for gorilla fur coats. Every one I ever see, I'll buy."
Pete revealed that he had spoken to one of the "top dogs" of Big Brother, and that the police had interviewed both Big Brother people, himself and Michael. "Rather than letting the police in the house on Friday," he explained, "they've confiscated it."
