Anyone take these supplements and in what dosage? Capsules or liguid form?

Are the benefits as good as they say? I don't get much fish in my diet, but am planning on eating more when I can. Its just that in the past few months I've gone from being healthy to catching viruses/infections just like that.

Omega 3 won't help with viruses or colds. Omega 3 is good for lower cholestral, blood pressure, good for your brain cells, and skin. It is mainly helpful with arthritis as it helps to build bone,so so good for menapausal women.

If you are getting alot of viruses then you need to have a multi vitiamin with add vitamin E,as vitamin E help build up your system, and helps to heal.

From what I can gather, it won't help directly with viruses and colds, but does able the body to have a healthier immune system.

Even if it doesn't, the benefits are too much to ignore. Looks like I'm going to have to make this a part of my lifestyle. What I find hardest is all the temptation that comes my way - go shopping and everything pushed is all the unhealthy stuff. Had to force myself yesterday to dig out the fish.

Omega 3

Found primarily in cold water fish, Omega 3 Fatty Acids are a form of ‘polyunsaturated fats’, which unlike saturated fats (associated with heart disease), are actually good for your health, although the body cannot make them on its own - they must be obtained from outside sources (i.e. food or supplements). For these reasons Omega 3 (and Omega 6) Fatty Acids are called ‘Essential Fatty Acids’ (EFA’s).

Researchers are constantly announcing new benefits of supplementing with Omega Oils. In May 2005 an article in the Daily Mail entitled 'The Cleverness Capsule' revealed how omega oils made a big improvement in concentration, memory and mood in children. More recently (6th October, 2005) the BBC aired a 'Horizon' programme ('Could fish make my child smart?') which investigated the many reported health benefits of omega oils.

It is important to maintain a healthy balance between Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s (another source of EFA’s) as current reports state that most people’s diets consists of far more Omega 6’s than Omega 3’s. Experts recommend that the balance needs redressing and that for the body to thrive, a healthy diet should consist of roughly one to four times Omega 6 Fatty Acids than Omega 3’s.

Without a good supply of Omega 3’s, the body will use saturated fat to construct cell membranes making them less flexible and thereby making it harder for the heart to return to a resting state. In addition, Omega 3 has also been found to: Help prevent blood from clotting by making platelets in blood less likely to clump together, (a causative factor in heart attacks); Help to lower blood fats (triglycerides), blood pressure and cholesterol levels; Aid normal growth and development as well as play a crucial role in brain function (e.g. memory, concentration and mood) by enhancing the ability of cells to ‘communicate’ with one another in the brain.

Extensive research also indicates that Omega 3 Fatty Acids could even reduce the inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis. Further benefits include: balancing hormones, improving the immune system and keeping skin, hair and nails healthy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

• Essential for healthy heart and cardiovascular function.
• Can be helpful in reducing cholesterol and triglycerides (blood fats).
• May improve concentration, memory and mood.
• Can help to reduce inflammation associated with arthritis.
• May help balance hormones, improve immunity and keep hair, skin and nails looking healthy.

One thing I would recommend for cold sufferers though for sure is Echinecea - I take it as soon as a cold starts appearing and the cold is gone within a day - i swear by it.
