View Full Version : can i have your opinions please guys!!!!
yesterday i had a very strange conversation with one of my friends.
she goes to a signing class once every couple of weeks, she said on the way home from school the other morning that the tutor hugs some of the members of the class (they are all adults), but he does not tell his girlfriend. i was shocked that he does this and told her i did not think he should as it sounds like an abuse of power and trust.
she was shocked that i thought this way and does not see any harm in it.
what do you guys think am i just being really silly???
It depends on their ages really I suppose - what sort of ages are they??
all sorts, all adults she is the same age as me (28)
i just think it is not right when its someone in authority thats all
IMO if they are adults all around our age, then if they don't like it, they are of the mindset and maturity to be able to say "hey, i don't want to be hugging you". Maybe they see him as a friend, but being a tutor, it shouldn't really be promoted by him, so i don't really agree with it.

thanks for your opinon em,
it was just my freind was quite shocked when i said that i thought it was a bit wierd for a bloke with a girlfriend to go hugging other women he was teaching then not telling her
No probs - it seems strange that he doesn't tell his girlfriend either, but then I didn't tell my hubby about her for ages !lol

I just want to add my 2 cents worth to this, as a former teacher/tutor ..of an adult contiuning education program, I would never dream to step over the line as a teacher/ and go around hugging my students.. My " students" were ages 18-76. Hugging is a NO NO.That teacher should be reported to some one higher up..It does not mean u are CLOSED MINDED,, it is just that u are seeing an abuse of "authority".:banned: ..Ok I am getting off my soap box not,,, JJ
thank you jodi, you have re inforced what i was thinking.............i just find it hard to get over what i think and sometimes say things wrong.......but i wrote down exactly what i ment and it has come out right!!!!!
i think it is a bit like abusing your power, especially if he sees it as a bad thing such as not telling his girlfriend. Even if it is adult students i still dont thin the teacher should get personal.
i just worry that one day one of them could turn round and say he was touching them up, i know it is a bit far fetched but you never know
you never know i had loads of people at my old school that sad things about teachers trying to look at them and touch them.
i can reallly belive that!!

I kind of agree with Jodi on this topic although they are adults they may be unconfortable with this tutor hugging them but not sure if they should say anything. I work for a further education college and just before xmas all staff there is about 500 of us had to recieve training on child protection as a lot of us come in contact with young adults aged between 16-18. we were told that under no circumstances are we allowed to touch a student. So he is abusing the rules
