yeh we have a primark, i dont go in there much though cos its a dump! clothes all over the floor, its horrible! i bought my pair of long stripey socks from there and theyre ok but other things dont seem to fit, like their jeans and tights are huge!
There is a primark about 30 mins away from me, I'd say it's value for money if you like their clothes, which I don't.
I love Primark.Theres a really big one in the Manchester city Centre I dont buy everything from there but Jumpers and things are really good value for money.

the one in swansea is like that. we walked in and walked straight back out. its a tip lol.
the one in Manchester always seems dead tidy. the only tip is the TKMaxx that has the downstairs of the building but i dont go in there.
We've got two where I live, it is a bit of a tip. But I find it alright for things like pj's, socks, pants and jogging bottoms or just things to wear around the house or to go dog walking in. Its good value for money but the quality does refelect the price IMO
ours is opening very very soon, everyone keeps tellingme how fab it is so i cant wait to take a look
Moving to fashion in female talk
I have 2 near me. Its great for thigns like PJ's, towels, underwear, necklaces and bags. The clothes are the type of thing you could wear once, then not wear again, because the tops especially go out of shape in the wash. The jeans are good, they have long ones too, i had a pair that lasted me for years- but they weren't cheap. overall, it a good shop, but the tops and jackets are a wear once, then chuck type thing. maybe to go down the pub or out for a meal in.
like katy said, theres one in manchester but i think its a dive- its awful- the clothes don't fit, imo, its a mess
The one in Hounslow is like a jumble sale, but the other which is closer to me is actually well nice.
The one in Hounslow is like a jumble sale, but the other which is closer to me is actually well nice. I have to agree with you there, that is my local one, but the one in Hammersmith is really tidy, and it is much bigger, I havent had any problems with tops going out of shape though, must just be lucky. They are opening a new larger store in Hounslow soon,on the littlewoods site. so we will see if that is any better.
I was walking down the high street, and thought that it looked really good, but the queue was utterly huge, because only 2 people were working them, and all the clothes are dumped everywhere. It's awafull in there. Hammersmith is a lot better, but i normally go to harrow, because its more direct on the trains for me. Hopefully if they open up a different one in hounslow then it'll improve, because ther est of hte shops are great. That shop lets the street down, i think.
I forgot you lived there!!! We're dead close aren't we?! Strange...

some of the stuff is ok but some of it is awful. you just have to be choosy about what you buy there. yes, it is cheap if you want some bargain stuff but then dont expect some of it to last very long either.

Ive only been in primark twice and both times it has looked like a jumble sale.
Everyone else seems to find some great bargains though......
i like getting stuff in primark - the rate my boys are growing, it works out far cheaper and i'd rather spend £100 and get 3 or 4 bag fulls of clothes that I am not going to worry if they get ripped apart etc within days, than buy clothes costing £40 per pair of jeans, and panic everytime they are worn - but thats just me lol

I agree with you... as kids do grow so much and so fast, pennies (irish primark) is the best place to get the clothes, you don't spend an fortune so you don't mind they getting ripped or too small too soon.. I usually get undies and swimwear from there when I go on holidays

In london my primark used to be huge and untidy and the only thing that was clean were the bags and the Accessories which is what I mostly got as I would only want to spend a small amount on a bag than a huge amount as I am the kind of girl who change her mind.
The clothes don’t fit me, they are always too big for me.
But I do understand why jojomum and chance with their children growing up so much would go to primark
Quick question: Does anyone know if there is a Primark near Faversham?

I love primark! I got a gorge top from their 2 quid! The threading is a bit dodgy though, lol ... still love it :p
Primark's my fave place, cheap, chance of stuff breaking but then you take it back lol :p
Yeah, it's not always the best and the the tops do usually fade after washing them but they are always comfy.

My local one in Hounslow is the same, its a real mess, yet the one in Hammersmith which is twice the size by the way, is always clean and not a thing out of place. So I think it is down to the local people not giving a damn.

thats probably the case, my local one is a mess, but thats probably cos of the people that use it, i hate going down the high street now cos of the sort of people that make up the majority down there
we hyave a primark back home. Its not my favourite place to shop but you def get value for money as everything is sooo cheap. If I need some basic tops like some strappy tops then i go to primark.

Polka dot belts for £1 as well, i have a black and white one and a red and white one. I'm not as much of a fan of the clothes, but i have mates who get clothes from there and love it.

We have a newish Primark where I live, it's nice and tidy most of the time, unlike some of the other Primarks I've been in which resembled jumble sales! I buy my nighties in there, great value at £4 a time. My only quibble is that I wish they'd make their clothes in sizes above 18 - there are a lot of bigger women where I live (including me!) and it's so frustrating to see something you like and it doesn't come in your size. Every time I go in I ask about bigger sizes and I'm always told I'm not the only person to have raised the matter and that the powers that be have been told, but nothing ever seems to change.

I *LOVE* primark. It has some really nice stuff for cheap...though admitidly you do have to search for them. Plus the clothes I've bought have lasted for ages. I have a dress from there that's about 4 years old and it's still in perfect condition despite me wearing it to death. I love the underwear but unfortunately the nice designs don't come in my size :(

I like primark i just wish they did more choice in girls clothes aged 8 to 9
the do some lovely younger kids clothes....
Ive been in it twice this week and there clothes havebecome older like for 40 + and they used to be so fashionable too! The only half decent thing they had in there was jeans in clothes and they cant really go wrong there, used to be my fave shop but recently i am very disapointed

I went in last week and there were still loads of highly highly fashionable things. What is the market like where you are because I think shops change their stuff to cater for their main demographic. OOORRR it could be all the good stuff went in the jan sales.
I agree, Chance. I hate wearing high-necked tops, and only really wear low-cut ones, but they've stopped selling them recently, whereas places like River Island and TopShop still sell loads of them.
Mind you, their shoes are great. They've really improved recently. I got some silver pumps with a silver buckle on the front for £6 and some white trainers with Red glitter on the sides for £10 the other week- Bargain!
They just recently dont seem to have changed there stock much, same jeans, same trakkie bottoms, same fleeces ya mum would wear, combats, its all been the same since september.
Iwent in the other day and had real trouble finding a black top/sweater,not just in primark, everywhere! I eventually after much looking ound one in h&m,all the clothes seem to be designed for my slovakian au pair (you'd know what i mean if you saw her)
I went in town twice last week and used to be able to come home with bags of clothes but i had trouble both times coming home wih 1 bag, cant wait to go back to america to get some more decent stuff!
pookie1968uk
08-01-2007, 14:12
i think part of the trouble is the fact that while the sales are on it is harder to find decent stuff other than sale items. its racks and racks of sales stuff and if you dont want to spend ages sorting through it all looking for one nice thing then youve had it!

although half my warderope is primark itself i found lately they only seem to do more larger sizes the small. i like there jeans to go out in but also to go to work in because they are cheep and were easy to get hold off so it didnt matter if i ruined them at work. i have to spend a while looking for ones that fit or that are comfortable too. but there tops are fab!

My nearest ones nearly an hour away. Not a Primark girl to be honest, so it doesn't really bother me, i only go in the one in Manchester to go to TKMax downstairs.
I have got a primark t'shirt though for work as i'm a swim instructor and have to go in the water with the kids, and didn't fancy wearing an expensive one in the water that would get runied so i bought one in primark, i have worn in three times, started blue, then purple and now it's pink. Wounder what colour it will go next time.

Primark is known to have clothes on the floor but one near me isnt like that :)
Both stores near me don't have the clothes on the floor either - the majority of the shoppers pick up items that they have dropped and replace them, rather than leaving them on the floor to be trodden on. :)

The Primark near me is such a mess clothes lie scrunched up everywhere and i cant be bothered searching through all it.I prefer just to go in a shop and evrything be nice and neat and for me to just see things i like and not have to rake for ages.My firends like it always drag me in put i don't even bother looking as i just get annoyed at the mess.I would rather go into a shop where they take care of the clothes even if they are more expensive.

I never find clothes on the floor.. Primark (pennys) is great for kids clothes. they grow out of them so quick so I don't mind them getting ruin cause they cost next to nothing.. I got 3 lovely outfit for Ben, sandels for charley and swimwear for both of them and it only cost €20... I am going to get myself some sandels for summer as they are only fiver in kids section (I have tiny feet so can wear kids shoes)

Yes, I agree with you both there - I steer well clear of Hounslow's store for that very reason. Slough is tider but just doesn't seem to have the same range of clothes even though it has been made bigger - Uxbridge def needs a Primark IMO!
Love the t-shirts, great bright summer colours for £2.50 - you cant beat it! :cheer:
Everyone I work with not from UK or Ireland, I have introduced to Primark and they all love it.. I said it once and I will say it again, you can't beat it.. I got a pair of work trouser 4 years ago for €1 and they are still in perfect condition.. now tell me where else can you get that value?? and even if they fell apart in 1 month, who cares, they were only €1
I go in there a lot more now, and I think it's improved, too. Still the odd garment chucked over a rail or on the floor, but it's ok. I have some beads, a top and a skirt from there. I'm going to get some underwear from there the next time I go, and I was going to see what the swimwear was like.
