Has anyone heard of it?
I lived on the crossroads where this happened and I really want to find the book about it called 'Jack white's gibbet'.
Can anyone help?

I know this will probably sound daft, but have you tried asking at the library (a large one, say Taunton) They should be able to at least tell you some details about the publisher etc....

there is this book i found and it had the story in it but you would get a lot of other stories with it also. that was all i could find....

Folktales of England, edited by Katharine Briggs and Ruth Tongue. University of Chicago Press, 1965. (A volume of short tales from various parts of England, with many notes and references)
ISBN 0226074943 paperback, 0226074935 hardbound

thanks for your help guys. I found these too but I wanted to read the book that was only about the event as it might have more info.

Is there anyway of contacting the wincanton online site, that mentions the book and ask them more details about it??? If the library services can't help and they have mentioned an actual book, they might be able to give you more details about where you may be able to get a copy of the book. Or maybe (a very long shot mind) would be tourist information services - they might be able to give you more details (though this is probably doubtful lol)
