Doctor Who star John Barrowman is planning to wed his long-term partner.
The actor, 38, has been with British architect Scott Gill since 1991. "We're just going to sign the civil register," he told gay magazine Attitude. "We're not going to have any ceremony because I'm not a supporter of the word marriage for a gay partnership."
The couple are also reported to be starting a family via a female friend. "The daughter of a very, very old friend offered to carry a child for us. I've known her since she was five or six. She has kids of her own but said that if we wanted a child she'd be happy to do it."
Barrowman will reprise his role of Captain Jack in Torchwood, a new spin offairing on BBC Three later this year.
