... HULL singer Dan Bryan is to release his first single, more than a year after shooting to fame in the Big Brother house.

The reality TV star spent the summer touring the UK and is now looking forward to the release of his first single, Electrosexual.

The song was recorded with his band iceHouse and is the first single from the band's new album of the same name. The track features backing vocals from Withernsea High School pupils.

The single will hit shops on Monday, January 23. The album will be released in summer.

Dan, 31, of west Hull, said: "I didn't want to do anything off the back of Big Brother and fail like others have.

"I wanted to come out of the house and get back on the road, which we did.

"I'm trying not to think about what reaction the single will get. It's really scary. I'm not aiming for top 10 or top 20. I'll be very happy if it gets into the top 40."

Dan and his band did radio roadshows for Radio One and radio group GWR during the summer.

He said the best experience was playing in Scotland with Natalie Imbruglia and Charlotte Church.

Meeting the former child star obviously gave Dan some ideas. He recorded with children aged 12 and 13 from Withernsea High School and Technology College in Hall Road, Withernsea, on two of the album's tracks, called Listen To The Rainbow and Fairfax Avenue.

"I'm not using the kids in a Grandma We Love You kind of way," said Dan.

"Their voices are used in the background. They are very haunting and very good."

Dan's debut single comes after he headlined a Christmas charity dance at Cottingham High School in Harland Way, Cottingham, where he was a pupil.

He said: "There were about 400 screaming kids, which was a mad experience.

"It was weird to be back there but also really good because a lot of the teachers were still the same."

Dan was supported by 2002 Fame Academy contestant Pippa Fulton, 23, who is recording her album and also provides backing vocals for iceHouse.

Dan, who came third in Big Brother Five, is now hoping his music will mean he is remembered for something more than the infamous house.

He said: "I don't regret doing Big Brother because I wouldn't have met the people I've been working with now.

"But I just have to do something bigger and better now so people remember me for that instead."
