The final book is in final stages of production, but how does everyone think that the final Harry Potter book will end?

I reckon we will have no Hogwarts (in respect of Dumbledore) and the Harry, Ron, Hermoine go on a kill bill style kick ass revnege spree, hunting down and killing the Malfoys, Snape, and the Deatheaters.

Harry will find and destroy all the horcruxes, all but one...he realises he is the final horcrux and for him to save the wizarding word he has to sacrifice himself. Once dead, it is down to Neville to avenge his parents, and fight Lord Voldermort to the death...

what do you guys think of that idea?

of course there will be a hogwarts!!!!!!!

Dumbledore would not have wanted it shut

Harry Ron Hermione and Ginny will kick ass

Draco will turn to the other side and kill his father

Harry will not die as already said by J K because she is too scared to kill him off

Voldermort not sure if he will die or not think some how something else will happen to him

well in the sense that harry and co dont go...yes it will be in existance but harfry, rom, hermoine and ginny will have their minid adventure to do...

as for draco...i doubt he will turn against his dad...or will he? :hmm:

if this is the last book then JK should end it on a high by tying up every loose end and finishing it for good: i.e killing Harry, it would make sense and it would end it for good.

we dont want her writing loads of loads of follow on books, as the quality with decrease and the magic will eventually go out of it (no pun intended)

I think that Harry will have to kill someone that he's really close to, or something like that, as the last horcrux

i bet voldermort will do the.... girl or the world scenario...save one or the other, but not both!

Luna

jk will make this the last book she has always said that there will only be 7 books killing harry off would be the wrong way to go.

I think that one of the weasley's will die in the next book either molly or arthur. or one of the twins. Ron will become a hero and him and hermione will FINALLY get together.

Harry will live and leave to another life. He will be too emotional scared to stay with all the memories.

I think that ginny will be caught up in the end and harry will have to choose with ron coming to the resuce. Ginny is the obvious choice for voldemort to pick on to hurt harry

no not yet officially but if you read the last book it seems so and really there is no one else for the job!!1 they will all be too scared after dumbledore was killed as hogwarts was seen as the saftest place to be

some things of what we already know about book 7

The last word of the seventh book, according to Rowling, is "scar." She says that she has written the very last chapter already (BN) and that the last chapter contains details of what happens to each surviving character.

This is the thing that I was very dubious about showing you... (T)his is the final chapter of book seven. This is really where I wrap everything up, it's the epilogue. And I basically say what happens to everyone after they leave school - those who survive - because there are deaths - more deaths coming. It was a way of saying to myself, "Well you will get it, you will get to book seven one day. And then you'll need this!" So I'd just like to remind all the children I know who come around my house and start sneaking into cupboards that it's not there anymore - I don't keep it at home anymore for very, very, very obvious reasons. So there it is.

Harry will be in his seventh and final year in book seven. The events of book seven will take place between July 31, 1997 and the end of the school year, which presumably will be June, 1998.

Harry will go back to the Dursleys one last time before his 17th birthday. He plans to visit Godric's Hollow and also to attend Bill and Fleur's wedding in July.

Harry will turn seventeen on 31 July 1997, and therefore will be of age in the wizarding world and old enough to obtain a license to Apparate. Neville Longbottom will likewise be of age at the end of July 1997. Ron and Hermione are already 17.

We will learn why some people become ghosts and some don't (Sch1).
Q: What makes some witches/wizards become ghosts after they die and some not?
A: You don't really find that out until Book VII, but I can say that the happiest people do not become ghosts. As you might guess, Moaning Myrtle!
NOTE: This information may have already been included in the conversation which Harry has with Nick in book five. The interview in which JKR gave this response was years before book five was written and she may have changed her plans somewhat.
We will learn something very important about Lily in book seven:
Now, the - the important thing about Harry's mother - the really, really significant thing - you're going to find out in two - in two parts. You'll find out a lot more about her in book five, or you'll find out something very significant about her in book five, and you'll find out something incredibly important about her in book seven. (Con)
Interesting things to watch out for, if the usual progression of school life continues:
It is not clear whether Harry will even return to Hogwarts for his seventh year. He plans to spend that year finding and destroying Voldemort's Horcruxes.

It is also unclear whether Hogwarts will even be open for the 1997-1998 [Y17-Y18] school year. If it is, however, certain things will likely happen:

Two students in Harry's year will be made Head Boy and Head Girl. They will not necessarily be Gryffindors.

Harry and his classmates will be taking their most difficult set of tests, the NEWTs, and making preparations for their careers in the wizarding world.

The last chapter is written. It tells what happens to everyone after the tale is finished (those who survive) (HPM)

There is no university after Hogwarts and no further Harry Potter books.

Lupin will play a big part in this book, as will Lily's back-story.

Rowling has stated that this book is like "Part 2" of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Rowling has revealed that she has already written the last chapter of this book and the last word will be "scar".

does anyone now when the book will be out?

Luna
01-01-2006, 17:11

Harry Potter 7 will be released July 7, 2007.

At least, it should be. While this date has no doubt already crossed the minds of many fans, JK Rowling's recent revelation that "2006 will be the year" she writes the final book lends itself entirely to this theory.

That, and it is the biggest stroke of magical marketing luck so far this century. The book simply can't not be released on 07/07/07. It's too perfect.

It just so happens that July 7, 2007 is a Saturday. It just so happens that every Potter book since Goblet of Fire has been released on a Saturday (presumably to allow kids and their parents to attend those midnight release parties without undue hardship). It just so happens that July 7 falls right in the traditional June-July release window during which the other books were released. (Finally, while less relevant but still interesting, 12:00 a.m. on Saturday will be 7 p.m. Friday in the U.S., where the most Potter books have been sold to date. Fans on the east coast, already lined up to buy their copies, will see book 7 released across the pond at 7 p.m. local time - what a coincidence.)

Rowling has hinted at the significance of the number 7, most recently in August when her official site's Wizard of the Month was an arithmancer who discovered the number's magical properties. In Half-Blood Prince, it was revealed that Lord Voldemort had made seven horcruxes (himself included). Quidditch teams have seven players each. Gryffindor Tower's entrance is on the seventh floor at Hogwarts. The list goes on and on.

I can see it now: the biggest marketing campaign in the history of publishing, with one very short, very simple, very effective message: Book 7. 07/07/07. Woe betide the marketing departments at Bloomsbury and Scholastic if they don't clinch what's obviously the most perfect storm of circumstance, desire, product and marketing the world may ever know.

Not that the book needs to be released on any specific date, though. As one of the planet's most successful authors, Rowling probably has the luxury of turning in a manuscript no sooner than when she sees fit. Fans will line up when told to. And it's up to her editors and publishers to polish, prepare and print it. One last consideration, from a business standpoint, is to make sure the next movie doesn't interfere or overlap (and Order of the Phoenix is rumored to be due out in summer 2007). Unfortunately, July 7 will also be the two-year anniversary of the London terrorist bombings (thanks to a site member for pointing that out).

No true fan would begrudge Jo for taking her time. But I must wonder if she also feels this coincidental "aligning of the fates" is something special, something magical, something to take advantage of. As a fan, I can only hope she does. As a fan, I hope every day she finishes the book tomorrow and we get it next month.

I also hope Jo doesn't find this whole thing absurdly presumptuous. I hope she realizes it's our duty to poke and prod and ask and beg and whine and plead. How would that be any different than the last five years?

We certainly wouldn't want to disappoint her.

UPDATE: Lest there be any confusion (which I see there is), this is only a theory! JK Rowling has made no formal announcement about the release date yet.

It's gonna be so weird with no Harry Potter books after the last one.
I have no idea's on how it will end, though I think there will be lots of people dead

Kim
29-01-2006, 01:31
Well In terms of Harry and Voldermort, I think that Harry will die.

Luna
29-01-2006, 09:14
aarrgghh you cant say that...harry has to live

Kim
29-01-2006, 09:19
aarrgghh you cant say that...harry has to live

But, In order for Voldemort to die, Harry has to destroy the remaining five horcruxes. Voldemort however, only has to kill Harry. Also, if both were going to live, why wouldn't J K Rowling be writing another book after the seventh that could be set when Harry was a bit older to show what had happened to everyone with their careers or something?

Luna
29-01-2006, 09:21
the last chapter in the 7th book set out the lives ahead and lets everyone know what they are all doing in the furture she isnt going to leave is all hanging.

If she killed off harry, in my own opinion, she will be ruining all the books

Kim
29-01-2006, 09:24
But if Harry was to live, everyone would want more books, whereas another book would be pointless without Harry in it. In the last chapter of the seventh book, she says what they are all doing in the future, but it won't be able to tell you what happened after they started their careers, would it?

Luna
29-01-2006, 09:27
no it wouldnt tell you all that but it lays the ground for it....she has also never really ruled out another book...yes she has said there are seven books in the series but she has also said that maybe in ten years time you never know if she's maybe write a one off book.

Kim
29-01-2006, 09:28
Oh, that would be good but the chances still are that Harry will die.

annaz
29-01-2006, 09:49
Maybe Harry could have a love affair with Voldemort. lol

we know the last word is scar
that harry has to find and destroy the horcruxes before finally destroying the part of soul that still remains in voldemort
we also have this RAB charcter to deal with????? any ideas?

at the end of the last book all the pieces were put in place for harry ron and hermionie to go on the last adventure- tracking down the horcruxes

i think as they get closer to the final show down- draco will have a choice of doing whats right and whats expected of him - i think he will ultimately come good and join the right side - i'm hoping this will involve snape and lucius' demise. i also think worm tail will do the right thing too

at the end when harry faces voldemort - i dont think he will actually have to kill him (harry's nice remember) something unexpected will happen - all the good harry has ever known will come to help (sirius, dumbledore, and his parents, cedric may be involved)

but i dont think you'll ever hear harry say avada kevadra -

Almost every story at the end has that good over comes evil storyline. couldnt harry over come voldermort and everything be ok in the wizarding world. Maybe he has to sacrifice himself

i reckon harry will Die at the end of the Final book
