As we are nearing the end of 2005, im going to do one of these threads for each of the main four soaps. Just for you to basically say what you have thought of this soap over the year of 2005. Do you think it's been a good year for Coronation Street? Or a bad year? Opinions please! :)

It was an ok year for Coronation Street. I think the comedy parts were quite good.
i dont think it was that good as i cannot really remember anything major. I thought the Katy Harris stuff was really really good, but theres been a bit too much comedy and not enough Drama.
i am naturally biased to eastenders so my review of coronation street will naturally be very negative.
compared to recent years where we've had Mad Mya, Richard Hillman etc, 2005 has been rather dull. They have had too many short and pointless comedy storylines that have no long term effect on the characters. The thing with coronation street, compared to any other soap, is that they have a large cast of about 60, they have to give everyone a storyline, and as result storylines are rushed or take too long, as in shelly and charlie, and characters are neglected, if they had a 30 somnething cast then it would be a lot better in my opinion.
It isnt all bad tough i enjoyed Les and Cillas wedding, mainly because of the Quo, and also i enjoyed Ian McKellen's cameo as Mel Hutchwright. The Baldwins have done it for me this year, they have made the show worth watching and i home they dominate the storylines next year!
WEll i think its been ok. As bondboffin said, Ian McKellen's cameo was great to see, and some of the comedy was ok.... but apart from that, it hasn't been that great. Its not been exactly "Cliffhanger" to watch, theres not been much to keep you watching. Overall.....4/10

Sorry but Corrie started of well as has rapidly gone down hill very fast, this christmas the storylines haven't done anything for me, Mike's illness is a very good story to cover and I hope it's handled with care and sensitivity but the acting of those involved within that story is appalling, Johnny Briggs is nowhere near as good as he use to be and the man that plays Adam ruins every scene. Carol's drunk behaviour is increasingly boring now as is Jamie's affections for Frankie, Jack Duckworth selling his body is by far one of the worst plots and if it's meant to be funny it's not. The children in the show are woefull, the humour is far to overboard now, and new characters are introduced at alarming rates but nothing comes of them. And to top it of we had Shelley and Charlie the longest plot in soap history and after all the build up, Shelley turned round and said no and is now considerably fine, umm something isn't ringing quite true there.
Although credit where credit's due Bradley Walsh has been the star of the show, Les and Cilla's wedding was absolutely hysterical as was Status Quo's cameos, Tommy Harris's death was well handled but by the end I'd had enough of him. Corrie was under par, and has been since Richard Hillman and Mad Maya left, there is not a really mean villian in the street now, something which needs to be addressed. I hope it improves in 2006.

Tbh i haven't really enjoyed Corrie last year. I thought the Killer Katy story was good but apart from that I didnt really like Corrie in 2005. This year sounds good though so i think i will start watching again :)
