As we are nearing the end of 2005, im going to do one of these threads for each of the main four soaps. Just for you to basically say what you have thought of this soap over the year of 2005. Do you think it's been a good year for EastEnders? Or a bad year? Opinions please! :)

I think Eastenders have had a good year.
Strong Talent I think.

I think it had some pretty dodgy moments, but I think all told it was good. It was certainly better then the year before with all that ferreira pap they were churning out!

This year, I loved the Den storyline (although the stuff with Zoe got on my wick a bit, but mainly because Zoe irritated me) and I think it's great now the Mitchells are back.

However, this will probably make me v unpopular, I wasn't too keen on the whole Jake and Danny thing (ducks for cover!) It ws getting to the point where if Danny mentioned Johnny Allen one more time, the TV would have gone through the window.....

i naturally have rose tinted glasses when it comes to eastenders, but even as an avid obssesive fan i have to admit it wasnt the best of years.

its had to build itself up from 2004 and the berridge era, and they have had a lot of unfortunate luck with SO MANY stars leaving, that they have to think of storylines to get them out of it, but on the whole i think theyve done well.

the highlight of the year has naturally been the den storyline, it ran for song long and was full of suspense, it envolved so many characters and was just bloomin' terrific! and then of course the return of the mitchells was another highlight for me personally

the molfie/kalfie saga was good to watch, and i enjoyed the leo and demi conclusion(only for the superb acting of Gerry Cowper and David Spinx)

its been intresting to see how Eastenders has built itself back up, and if it continues how it is doing now trhen i think it will soon become the nations best soap again

i liked 2005. i can't really compare it with other years because i only really started watching at the very end of 2004, but i've enjoyed it. i particularly enjoyed the martin, sonia and rebecca/chloe stoyline, because its probably the most realistic and believable out of all the others going on, and the rememberance day one was probably the best ee episode of the year

I will always love EE but I think it's been qute a bad year seeing as they drag the storylines, triangles etc.!!

I love Eastenders, but I don't think it's been great this year. There were some good storylines, but they are never big on continuity, and I hate the way they introduce a storyline, and forget about it the week after, I suppose it's because of the many different writers on the show, but they didn't seem to have any trouble keeping up in the 80's (so I'm told), or even the 90's (which was an era I particularly enjoyed).

I don't like the fact that so many actors have left or are leaving, Letitia Dean, Nigel Harman, Kacey Ainsworth, Shane Richie, Jessie Wallace etc., Some of the best characters in the show. But I do think that there is a lot more talent coming into it, so maybe things are set to get better. I look forward to a newyear of better storylines, and as the producer promised more character lead plotlines. We need more drama, but not all sensationalism. How many people can get murdered on the one square?!

Sorry Bryan but to me this was one of the worst things about EE this year. The totally ludicrous way in which DEN was raised from the dead. That combined withe the dodgy return of the Magnificent Mitchells really did my head in. The scriptwriters just seem to write from episode to episode with no real thought for the future of storylines. Whap a cop out with the Beetroot Mans arrest for armed Robbery, Possesion of a firearm, escape from lawful custody ets. It really is time the scriptwriters got together in an effort to make the storylines less disjointed. However my highlight has to be tonights episode which features the death of Dennis Wickman :cheer: I shall be glad to see the back of him. I am also glad that all this KALFIE nonsense is over. Lets hope that EE improves in 2006 before someone pulls the plug and it goes the same way as Brookie and Eldorado

i can only sum it up in one sentance, like watching paint dry, except for about 10 episodes,i'd say the worst year yet, lets hope the new year brings better writing, and improvements all along

Whoever thought up the idea of bring back the Mitchells is brain dead, as it turns Eastenders into one big yawn fest. Den's resurection what the heck was going on there, although i did enjoy Sam's digging him up, and her line "Hello Den" or something like that!
It wasn't the best year, but it was ok, i've seen worse storyline's in other soaps.

i will always say that is was brill it was okay at the start of the year and has improved from then the ratings have defo went up and the return of the mitchells, kat, sharon and dennis helped that along with the shannis wedding dens murder grant and phil return (and mitchells back behind the bar) leo and demi storylines these were my highlights oh and stacey and rubys friendship which in my opinion was the new sharon/michelle or tiffany/bianca friendship.

Then the bad parts which arent bad but just annoyed me such as the dragging out of sonia and martin johnny allen tryin to be a hard when he so clearly isnt and ian puttin wellard into the pound evil man

family wise-great to see the mitchells back, hate the allens not good at all millers are growing on me only i dont like dawn but i think the twins are amazing and funny, fowlers/beales-starting to annoy me slaters-sad to see kat leave but we have the new kat in the form of stacey who i really like and the monns nana dieing was an amazing storyline and done brill but i miss her lol alfie leaving didnt like but he left with kat so that made it a bit better and well sharon and dennis lovin them both they're my fav character but i cant believe whats going to happen i am gonna miss him.

AND last but not least the characters that i hate and should not stay in it next year are honey dawn little mo juley rubby and johnny allen they annoy me and i wish they hadn't been brought into the show.

sorry for ranting on just my gran wont listen to me when i start talking about eastenders and i have no-one else to talk to well no-one who listens to me coz i talk to much about eastenders lol

If someone had told you this time last year that Sharon and Dennis would get married, Sharon would get pregnant and then Dennis would die - would you have believed them?

Johnny Allen

It started of bad but has rapidly improved, the Dirty Den saga was top notch stuff with wonderful acting from Tracy Anne Oberman who was simply wonderful as Chrissie. The Mitchell's return had me cheering from the roof tops and since their return Eastenders has been far better. Alfie and Nana's Normandy episode was moving and touching and beautifully written and acted suprisingly from Shane Ritchie. Johnny Allen's behaviour may have been erratic but he has been a truly evil villian and wonderful to watch due to Billy Murray's fine acting. And Dennis's exit was great, and Kat and Alfie leaving together was a satisifactory conclusion.

For all Eastender's highs there have been lows but with a great ending to 2005, 2006 could be Eastenders year providing they don't prolong storylines, and give the likes of Johnny Allen terrific storylines.

I will always love Eastenders and will watch it until i die (if its still on then) but this year, i think Eastenders have had a good year. 2004 was the year when it all went downhill but 2005 has shown a massive improvement in the soap. The storyline i enjoyed most was the Den's death storyline and the best character this year for me has to be Chrissie Watts.
