Sally and Kevin lash out at Keith

With Sally and Kevin still reeling from the previous night’s discovery and Rosie locked away in her bedroom, the recriminations start. It is clear that Kevin blames Sally for what happened but she refuses to accept it was her fault. The couple are united in their anger at Keith when they discover that he and Audrey were aware of what was going on.
Carol is jealous of Frankie’s success with men and continues to pour poison into Jamie’s ear about his step mum’s feelings for him. Jamie is feeling increasingly uncomfortable with her insinuations and when Frankie cancels her date with Nathan to spend the evening with him he walks out much to Frankie’s dismay.
Leanne and Danny are dreading their dinner date at Les and Cilla’s and pop into the Rovers for some Dutch courage beforehand. Once at number 5, however, it is clear that Danny is enjoying the experience more than Leanne who is a little perturbed to discover most of the entertainment is at her expense.
Elsewhere Blanche is looking forward to spending the day with Lena at a funeral but arrives home early after making a shocking discovery.
Mike pops the question

Weatherfield’s answer to Romeo and Juliet continue to cause problems for Sally, Kevin and Keith. Keith is irritated at is lack of ability to control Craig and Sally knows that they can’t keep Rosie locked up forever. Meanwhile Sophie is feeling left out as no one will tell her what is going on. When Rosie finally comes clean with her she wished she hadn’t asked.
Liz confides in Bev that she is worried about Vernon going on the cruise gig without her. Can she really trust him with all those middle aged groupies on hand?
Penny wants a quiet night in but Mike has other ideas – he has booked them a meal at the Clock. Penny is not sure Mike is up to going out but he’s not interested in answering her questions about his illness – he has a very important question to ask her!
Frankie is fretting over Jamie’s whereabouts but Carol decides to keep schtum despite knowing that he headed off for the airport. When Frankie finally discovers where he has gone she tries to put a brave face on it but doesn’t relish being stuck at home with only Carol for company.
Sean proposes a toast to the New Year with Shelley, Sunita and Violet but gets a bit maudlin over the future and his desire to be a dad. Violet surprises them both with a very generous offer.
Mike awaits Penny's decision

Mike waits with baited breath for Penny’s answer to his romantic proposal. Convinced she will say yes he has even ordered the most expensive champagne in the house. But he is stunned with Penny’s response and before she has had chance to explain her decision he storms out of the restaurant. But fears for his whereabouts grow when he doesn’t arrive home. When Penny finally catches up for him in the Rovers, she is stunned that he can’t even remember proposing and takes him home to the flat. How will he react when he discovers for a second time that she has let him down?
Gail berates Audrey for not talking to Sally about what had been going on with Rosie and Craig. Audrey confesses that she hadn’t bargained for problem teenagers when she started dating Keith. Gail feels obliged to go and speak to Sally but gets a frosty response. Later when Hayley seizes the opportunity to speak to Sally about Rosie, Sally feels under siege and lashes out angrily.
Liz decides that she will blow her savings and go on the cruise with Vernon to keep him out of mischief. Somehow, Bev finds herself agreeing to go with her but, worried about being a gooseberry, invites Fred along too.
Elsewhere Vera is increasingly suspicious of Jack’s behaviour when first he dyes his hair and then turns up with a very dodgy fake tan. What is he up to?
Danny uses Mike's condition to his advantage

Adam is concerned when Mike starts asking where Penny is – clearly not remembering that he threw her out the night before. Whilst Adam is worried about Mike, Danny still manages to manipulate the situation to his advantage. Delighted that Penny turned Mike down he uses it as an opportunity to pour more poison into Mike’s ear about Adam and Penny. He’s delighted when his efforts pay off and he gets extravagantly rewarded.
Jack is starting to get cold feet about agreeing to pose nude for Hilary’s art class. But unable to back out he finds himself stark naked in a room full of middle aged women. Was it worth it for £25? And what will Vera do if she finds out?
Eileen is determined that she is not going to lose Jason the same way she lost Todd and decides to try and make things up with him. But when she returns home and finds him entertaining not only Sarah but Bethany too, she sees red.
Craig and Rosie are still desperate to see each other and manage a few snatched words through the open window but it is clear that Sally, Kevin and Keith are not going to back down and let them carry on dating.
Blanche attends a friend's funeral

It is a sad day for Blanche as she prepares to attend Lena’s funeral but her grief is somewhat diminished when she discovers that her friend has left her beloved pet dog to her as a parting gift. Even Tracy can’t help but be bowled over by the cute bundle of fun – but unfortunately Ken soon discovers that Eccles hasn’t exactly taken a shine to him.
Eileen tells Jason that Sarah ruined Todd’s life and she can’t stand by and watch her do the same to him. She realises she has overstepped the mark when Jason announces he is leaving, and after an emotional telephone conversation with Todd she decides that she needs to make amends.
Danny is concerned when Mike starts talking about his other son Mark and desperate to ensure his inheritance doesn’t diminish any further, Danny decides to manipulate the situation to his advantage yet again. By the time Danny has finished, a confused Mike walks into the Rovers and is convinced that Penny and Adam are Mike and Linda and are having an affair behind his back!
Elsewhere Gail continues to struggle to keep David under control – much to Phil’s dismay!
