View Full Version : Glitter's rape charges likely to be dropped
Gary Glitter's child rape charge is likely to be dropped by Vietnamese police, according to his lawyer.
The singer has been held for more than a month on suspicion of lewd acts with children as young as twelve.
Although prosecutors are expected to drop the charge of rape, for which he could have faced the death penalty, the charge of committing lewd acts with children will stand.
Glitter's lawyer Le Thanh Kinh told the BBC: "The [child rape] investigation has ended and the charge will still be the initial one, while additional issues were not raised by investigators, probably because of a lack of evidence."
If convicted, Glitter faces twelve years in prison.

everyone has there suspitions that he is guilty but until someone comes out and admits what he has done his money and lawyers are going to get him off

Totally agree with you there Alan - our prisons are too hotel like for him to suffer anything whilst inside over here - at least over there, the conditions in the jails are exactly as he should expect - I don't want to paying taxes towards holding that sort of a person in prison having a life of riley over here thats for sure.....
i agree totally, our country would look after him too well. let him rot somewhere were they will treat him like a criminal not give him full board in a hotel.
Have you seen the news now he has paid the two girls that said he raped them,over £1,500.which is equal to £72,000.and they have dropped the charges, so he will get off lightly now.talk about money talks.

Totally agree. Apparently, he would have faced the firing squad if he was found guilty.
Sureley alarm bells should have started ringing as soon as he arrived in Vietnam, having been asked to leave Cambodia for similar reasons. He needs stopping, chemical castration?

Somthing need to be done about people like Gary Glitter entering countries like Vietnam, Cambodia etc where he can pay off authorities and get away with it. This case is in the only in the media because of who he is, there must be more people doing the same sort o thing and its not publicised.
