He dosent need to uninstall it. He can reinstal from the original disk.

If your virus software is up to date it should detect it if not go to norton and they will let you run a check for free

if you get the chance, install Ad aware, it is a fantastic virus detector and will get rid of all the spyware stuff that Norton doesn't.. also got to this site: www.symantec.com to find fixs for any virus on your machine

I agree about ad-aware I also use spybot. Its scary some of the stuff that gets on to your computer without your knowledge :ninja:

bad affects???

On some applications yes!! ad aware is probably the best out there so far.. Spybot doesn't affect all application and you may not have them on your machine. I work for an IT company so we would have specialist application that spybot affects.

Heres a question - when I run it, do it delete all of the thingys it comes up with, or should I do something different??

The worst one at the moment is Spy Axe
If you get this, google the name for the fix. It's the only way to get rid of it.

while on the subject of ad aware, what scan is the best one to do? the smart system scan or full system scan. i never know which is the best one to do.

I always do a Full Scan because it scans everywhere. I think the Smart Scan only scans the places where Spyware is most likely to be.

I have that, and from my "experience" its hte best one aruond. I do the full scan as well, it takes a bit longer, but it goes everywhere, so gets ones that it would otherwise miss.

I had a bad virus in mine a while a go, as did my friend who couldn't play one of her computer games. I'd suggest that you completely wipe your computer just incase it is a virus because my friend eventually was unable to use the internet because of it.
