Not a year has gone by without some sort of drama at the Christmas party in CASUALTY and this year looks no different with romance and break-ups in store for some of the couples in Holby.

The drama unfolds when scheming Bruno decides to make a move on paramedic Nina, whose own relationship with Abs is on the rocks after he failed to come to aid of Guppy when he was attacked by a racist gang.

However when she rejects Bruno's advances, he decides to stir up trouble by spreading a rumour through Woody that he has slept with her.

News finally reaches Abs who is hurt by the claims. Later at the Christmas party - where Bruno is performing a comedy set - Abs confronts Nina, who is mortified. But what has hurt her more is the fact that Abs believed Bruno's lies and she tells him their relationship is over.

Abs and Nina have yet to have an easy ride in their relationship so far. Earlier this year Abs was blackmailed into marriage by Nina's step-sister Ellen and now it looks as if Bruno's trouble-making has caused final damage to the couple, much to fans dismay.

Meanwhile things seem to be hotting up for unlikely pairing Ellen and Harry.

In recent weeks the pair have been getting closer after Ellen took on baby-sitting duties, flirtatious Ellen has enjoyed playing mind games with her consultant and even backed off from kissing him a few weeks back claiming although she wanted to take things further, that she shouldn't.

However when Ellen finds a stressed Harry having a hard time with Nathan breathing down his neck and urging him to reach targets, whilst unhappy staff rebel against him and head off to the Christmas party.

Ellen stays behind and finds Harry in his office ready to write out his resignation letter.

Ellen tries to encourage him not to resign and seizing the opportunity of Harry's vulnerability decides to make her move on him, ending in a passionate clinch between the pair.

Despite Ellen's 'man-eater' impression, actress Georgina Bouzova feels her character is just as vulnerable at heart, 'I think that although Ellen projects an image that she is after men with status and money, deep down she has a very strong need to be loved.

'Because her mother died when she was young, she has very much been a daddy's girl and I feel she may need some kind of 'father figure' to protect her.'

So could Harry be the one for her?
