Kate Moss is staying away from the UK this Christmas to avoid drug charges, according to reports.
In September the model was photographed using cocaine in a British club but left the country for a rehab centre in the US.
Friends have previously said she was intending to return here soon. A source told the Evening Standard: "Although her plan has always been to return to Britain for Christmas, if work commitments mean she needs to stay abroad, she will. She has been really busy in America and has been renting a house there."
If Moss were charged – even with just a caution – she would not be able to travel to the US, which would jeopardise her career. "If someone has just been arrested and the charges are dropped, they will be okay," said a US Customs and Borders spokesman. "But once there is a conviction, that person's status changes. In a word, they will not be allowed in."
Police, it is said, want to arrest Moss and caution her. They think she could provide information on cocaine dealers.
"The Moss investigation has opened a real can of worms," explained a Scotland Yard source. "While everyone has always known that the show business world and drugs go together, the sheer extent of the criminal infiltration is worrying."
