The Bill's Sgt Dale 'Smithy' is set to end up behind bars after facing a murder charge. Smithy is arrested after knocking down a woman in a new storyline for 2006. The Daily Star's source says ''However he may be victim to a cruel set-up, but there is still a bid for his freedom as he could face a long jail sentence.''

Oh so Smithy kills Louise by running her over and is then set up by her husband Pete Larson? I think i get it now! I was getting all :confused: lol.
Poor Smithy, I love him to bits. It will be nice for him to have a big storyline as "Smithy" has been a bit thin on the ground recently. So if Pete the "Git" Larson gets sent down could he be at the same prison as Smithy? If so poor Smithy he's life will be hell, as it will be anyway as he is a copper behind bars..
Gina to the rescue!! I just hope that he is cleared and gets his job back because for me the Bill won't be the same without him..
There has been similar storylines to this before. I.E Polly Page accused of murdering a bloke she was seeing after she helped him to die..things were never the same for Pol after this, although she did return to Sun Hill but in the DU, then she left! Also Tony has been in a similar situation when he knocked over and killed a pedestrian. He had to go through disciplinary procedure but was cleared.
Be nice once this nightmare has disappeared (Hoping)for Smithy if he found happiness, especially in love. Be nice if an ex-girlfriend. say someone from his army days who was in the same regiment as him turned up at Sun Hill one day...

i soooo hope that he doesnt go to jail and if he does is freed fast - hes fab!!!
i know lol!! smithy must stay... although if he wants to leave because his contract is up for renewal this would be his get out clause
In the last interview I saw with Alex he spoke briefly about this storyline but nothing was mentioned about him leaving. So here's hoping that this is still the case..yep our Smithy HAS to STAY!

i know lol, but his contract is up for renewal... but i really want him to stay!
If the worse comes to the worse and Smithy leaves then I hope he doesn't end up behind bars but just goes off somewhere to start afresh and forget his nightmare.
Mind you Alex has left before for a couple of years and then returned as Sgt Smithy, so he might do the same again, leave for a while and then return. If this is the case then Alex might just be taking a break...
I can't really see Smithy wanting to return to Sunhill after all this and if he ends up behind bars for a while he'll end up with a criminal record..Hopefully Gina and Zain will sort him out! :) or Mickey. Actually thinking about it I think Mickey would be the best one to help Smithy over this, as Mickey himself has been through a few nightmares of his own..
hopefully they would help sort him out... i think gina would as they are quite close
I agree Gina and Smithy are close and after Kerry was killed she was the one to help Smithy back on his feet again. I want all three involved Zain the main one to clear Smithy's name along with Mickey. Mickey to talk to Smithy about how he felt after he was raped and why he left Sunhill, just to basically point out to him that you can get through things and bounce back again and of course Gina to be the one who finally convinces Smithy that he will be alright and there are people who care about him. Of course Smithy already knows this.
I just have to say I love all his facial expressions, he has such an expressionate face. Then there is his beautiful moody streak..
If Alex was to change his contract and wanted, like Trudi, to do other things as well as the Bill, I would be happy for him to disappear just for a couple of months or so at a time like Trudi, come back and just be involved in routine stuff for a couple of weeks or so and then have a massive storyline where he would be on screen for a period of time and then to take his break again.
Obviously I'd prefer him to keep his contract full time but this would be better than Alex going all together.
i would like him to stay, he is really nice and he is nice to the other officers aswell, but if they wannna go, then they're gonna go!
I love the way Smithy is always there when needed and yes he is really nice. I love it when Smithy and Tony get up to mischief together.
And I agree if they want to go then that's the way it has to be and if Alex does go at least it will be his choice.
he just turns up, even if he hasn't been involved in the case.

um basically, smithy gets accused of killing a pedestrian i think...

no sorry i think its my fault - i read someones supicion as a fact! (hence my blonde hair!) so if its not louise there may still be a chance that one of our favourite cops gets a chance at true love at last!

PCs Yvonne Hemmingway and Tony Stamp are called out to a hit and run and discover that Louise has been killed. They are horrified when it looks as though Smithy was responsible when he is found slumped and unconscious at the wheel of his car.
got this from a reliable website. looks like smithy did kill her.
That is what I have read to, also that prior to that Smithy is taken from his car at gun point and then Louise is run down and Smithy is found slumped at the wheel of his car.
Now I've been thinking about this if Smithy was knocked out he'd have a bruise on his head or if injected with drugs then their would be evidence of this. Maybe "Larson" pours booze down his throat to make it look as though he's been drink driving. Even so this would be out of character for Smithy and there's the fact that he's a copper!
Looking forward to this storyline very much.
Has anybody else noticed that when it's time to renew Alex's contract somethng terrible happens to Smithy which may make him want to quit the job. Last Feb he was badly injured in the explosion where a wall collapsed on top of him and we were left in suspenders as whether or not he was alive and now we have the possibility of him going to jail? Is this cruel or what?!! :)
thats evil for him... i hope he will stay becaus maybe he doesn't mind acting out all this stuff because he likes the action
Alex himself apparantly does all his own stunts. As far as I am aware I get the impression that he is very happy doing the Bill and haven't heard any naughty rumours.
I'm glad that Tony and Yvonne are going to be involved in this storyline, especially Tony as I think he will know a little (just a little) about what Smithy will be trying to come to terms with.
well at least they will know what he is like and think immediately that he has been set up
I can't really think of anyone who will think that Smithy done it, but there is bound to be the odd one or two and then a case of things possibly looking very bleak for smithy when some of those closest to him also start to doubt him..I don't think that Gina or Zain will doubt his innocence for one minute. Especially Zain as he is heavily invovled in the Larson case and knows what Pete Larsonis capable of.
if zain doubted him, it would be very strange because zain has been helping smithy all along. x
and they have a kind of trust between them. As Smithy confided in him about Louise and Zain keeps Smithy up to date with what is happening regarding the Larsons.

read in the sun today that arthur from eastenders is gonna be in the bill as smithy's cellmate! According to the paper smithy is charged with murder and sent to prison! :crying:

i have also heard that they find info and the trial is stopped so no one actually knows yet
ooh, i hope he doesn't go to jail, but i suppose it'd be one way for him to have a break... mind you he wouldn't be able to join the police again would he?

if they've got someone to play smithys cell mate then he'll probably be proved innocent in the end because usually they only follow what happen to people inside prison if they are going to get out eventually if you see what i mean.

So if Smithy is sent down, going by the parts BT usually plays I'm guessing that he will have someone to look out for inside as he does for his fellow officers now. Which could possibly mean that we get to see him getting all hot and bothered, love it when he gets angry. So if this is all true then that will be good for us as hopefully we will get to see a lot of Smithy in the coming months. Then after a big storyline like this Alex will need a break and this would be a perfect way of allowing him time off. I.E Smithy will need time away to come to terms with the nightmare which has just happened to him and when Alex returns from his break, we have another storyline for him!

I love the way his eyes change colour and of course his facial expression.
Just slightly a different shade of brown. Although they look brown I beleive Alex actually has hazel eyes!!

I always notice the eyes and there has been some nice close up shots of Smithy's in the past and in recent eppis. When he's soppy they kind of go misty and a light brown colour and when he's off on one they tend to go a darker shade...(I'm going all faint now LOL!)

:eek: i read this in the TV mag !!!! and he is set up , its his girlfriend or ex that gets killed in a hit and run and smithy is knocked out and smells of booze so he is in the frame !!!!! pooooor smithy - hem one of my faveeeeeeeeeeeeee characters !! so sexy lol.
