kat and alfie

even though kats been a tower of strength to alfie during nanas final weeks it seems theres still no chance of a reconciliation for the star crossed lovers thei fortnight.
when she discovers that his grand mother has passes away kat vows to help her ex through his depression especialy when she reads the note nana left her that says make my alfie happy so touched by her support is that alfie asks her to sit in the family car for the funeral.
at the ceromonyalfie makes a moving speech about nana and how she taught him to have no regrets. but when he returns to the moons he finds the words be happy on the bach of an old photo. finally he breaks down. then feeling guilty that he left one of nanas wishes unfulfilled alfie goes to the races to place a bet on her behalf. kat tracks him down there, and although alfie intally snaps at her he later apoligises and confides his dream to go on a road trip accross the us.
although her love for him is burning brighter than ever kat selflessly shows alfie nanas note and tells him that if going to america will him happy then thats what he must do. she fights back the tears as he agrees to follow his dream.
the time for alfies departure quickly arrives and when he asks kat to come and wave him of shes convinced that he wants her to go with him. however although its clearly a wrench to leave her alfie rides of in to the sunset alone leaving kat in tears.but thats not the end of their story after drownind her sorrows in the vic later kat exits to find her estranged husband standing out side. he tells her that he forgot something and has come back to get it.
nanas death has brought them closer again says shane richie who plays alfie. but i dont know if they feel they could make a go of things as so much has happend between then.

BTW did any one notice that Kat was wearing a pearl necklace in teh photo, and she doesnt look as TARTY,, or is it my OLD EYE sight failing me again :searchme:

Yes it is, silly me, didn't see that. Remember when Nana had a load of stuff out on the tabe and was going 'this is for you, this is for you and then she held up that neclace and said 'and this is for Kat'.

BLUE MOON: Alfie has one last poignant look at the Square


The loveable rogue - played by TV favourite Shane Richie - leans against his snow-covered Ford Capri, his hands thrust deep into his pockets as he takes a final look at the Square.

Then Kat (Jessie Wallace) dashes out of the Queen Vic to catch him in the Christmas Day will-they-won't-they? - closely followed by sister Little Mo and cousin Stacey.



Shane, 41, said yesterday: "It's brilliant. Once again Alfie leaves everything right to the last minute. This goes right up to the duff-duffer."

But the star - in the Square for three years - is keen to reassure fans he will be back before too long. "I'd like to go back sooner rather than later. I don't want to leave it years like Ross (Kemp) did," he said. "I like playing in big teams and EastEnders is the biggest."

Dad-of-two Shane is now starring as Scrooge in a stage version of Charles Dickens' classic tale.

He joked: "I'm enjoying being back in theatre, surrounded by proper actors.

"They ask things like, 'Are you familiar with Dickens?' I say, 'David Dickinson? He's great'."

Shane has a number of big roles lined up, including in new movie Flushed Away alongside Kate Winslet and Sir Ian McKellen. He is thrilled at the chance of a Hollywood career but insists he and fiancŽe Christie Goddard, 27, will continue living here.

He said: "I wanted to stretch myself. However, I don't want to start all over again. I like the idea of being a big fish in a small pond."

Shane is now preparing for an even more important role - as a dad for the third time, with Christie due to give birth in April. He added: "After Scrooge I just want to spend some quality time with Christie."

He bids farewell as Alfie with many fond memories. One of his most memorable scenes was the death of his beloved Nana Moon. He said: "I watched it with my best mate Goz and we couldn't look at each other. At the end I had tears running down my face."

Some things he'll be happy to turn his back on, though.

"I enjoyed all that. But I won't miss freezing my knackers off on the market," he said.
