The dead rested in sunlight and dappled shade, the gentle green hills with markers of soft white or grey. The rows of them, the crosses and curves made Lexie wonder how the living could find comfort here, faced with the unassailable proof of their own immortality.
Lexie walked slowly across the green grass and carefully around the tall markers that had withstood time, scanning with them with respect for the one she needed.
She stopped suddenly, knowingly; she watched the shade dance slyly over the soft white cross and read the names carved there so long ago.
A small smile formed on Lexie's lips. this is what she'd come for, to find out
