i cant sign into my msn a repeir thing comes up so i click to repair and then it says i have a default gateway?????

i reinstalled it many times so nothing

I get that all the time too.. I usually turn of my firewall, sign in and then turn firewall back on.. works fine then

I was just wondering whether anyone else has received this and if its true or if it is someway of people getting hold of email accounts etc.

I think several members of soapboards have had it. 578 names, no way, if you randomly made them up there'd be thousands. There was also rumours of MSN costing back in August, and it never happened. I'd ignore it.

i know i think its fake, i mean if messenger was going to close it would be all over the net and on the news as its such a big facility.

The only thing that I have heard about messenger (and this was in my bt broadband magazine) was that Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger are joining forces, so there will be just one messenger service, in order to try and make our lives easier. Nothing else though.

My MSN wont let me in. Everytime i go to sign in, it tells me that it can't. I troubleshoot it, and normally it sorts it and lets me in....but it wont at the minute. Very stange, and frankly quite annoying. I might have to reinstall it......effort!!!

or you could diconnect from the internet (not pull the plug or anything like that) and reconnect to it. that always works for me

How can I make it so that when I sign in I'm offline. I hate being swamped when all I want to do is to change my name

open msn but dont sign in . near the top there is a bit saying
Always sign in as and an arrow click on the arrow and select appear offline. this should sort out your problem.

I'm still having problems with my MSN. I've reinstalled it, and it still does it. I've troubleshooted the problem, and it tries to repair my "key ports" but just does that for ages. Any ideas what these "key ports" are, and how i can fix them?!

i don't know what they are but have you tried restarting you're computer? It does that to mine's at times so i just restart it and it works.

Well i restarted it, and its working for now. Its still a bit dodgy, and slow, but fingers crossed it will be ok.

I've done a few checks on it, got rid of everything that shouldn't be there, so i think thats the problem sorted.

I can't get on either, i've tried about five times and some people can get on so it must be that the MSN server is running slow and is unable to cope with everyone going on.

uninstall it and use another form of instant messaging for a few days, then reinstall your current version of msn.

How do you get rid of the MSN toolbar?

My friend has a problem with her MSN now and I am on her computer trying to sort it out, I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, going on the change/repair thing in the control panel but I can't seem to be able to sort it.

The problem is that when she is signing into MSN, the sign in screen is blurred, as is the contact list that tells you who is online and offline, but any alerts of conmtacts signing in are fine as are the conversation windows. Any ideas or experiences?

How do you get rid of the MSN toolbar?
on the toolbar right click then go to msn and click it and it should go

If the MSN toolbar still comes back then go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. Then find MSN Toolbar and it should be gone forever :p

It doesn't seem to be in there. I do have the Plus facility which I am currently using with windows messenger. Would I need to uninstall that?

if you uninstall that and then reinstall it, but then you reinstall say 'i refuse to give my support' and then it will only install plus

Clear one or two things up.
1.msn messenger and yahoo messenger not going into together.
2.msn messenger changing to windows live messenger.

Will keep everyone informed on what is happening as much as possible as I am a member of microsoft news group, and I have a mate who works for them.

To keep your msn running smoothly make sure you do a disk cleanup at least every 2 weeks and a defrag at the same time also keep your computer updated with all the update that come out.

Right some people know ive been having problems with msn this week and have gone through for addresses, well chance has just come on shoutbox saying she has problems aswell but she was last active almost an hour ago so there is no point asking her there whats happening so chance if you see this let me know your problem and if its the same thing i had ill try and help

Mine freezes alot aswell. Do you use a webcam? thats the problem with mine when it freezes.

My Live Messenger has been freezing recently a fair bit - locks up other applications that are running too - haven't managed to figure out the reason why yet though :( Its like being on dial up again sometimes!

She tried sending me an invite to put it back on, but according to her pc it had sent, but I never got it. I sent one to her to start her webcam, and it did the same. So we started another conversation window and now neither webcam is working, with the same problem.

There have been lots of general msn problems lately with messages not getting through, or having a convo and in the middle of it, everyone suddenly going quiet which turns out that its because no messages are getting through to any one else.

I think they might have a bug they need to sort out

I had windows live for about 5 minutes and I didn't like it. It wouldn't sign in on the first go and was running slower than 7.5, so I went back to that.

Try signing out of messenger and closing the window altogether. Then relaunch it and sign in again. Usually works for me.

My MSN keeps booting me out of multiple conversations. It did it on 7.5 all the time, so I upgraded to Windows Live and now it's doing it again. Any ideas?
