Anthony Hopkins will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the 63rd annual Golden Globe awards, it has been announced.

A six-time nominee of the Golden Globes and Oscar-winner for The Silence of the Lambs, the Welsh-born actor will receive the honour on January 16, 2006.

Philip Berk, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, dubbed Hopkins arguably the best living actor, adding on his receiving the award: "It's a choice I am particularly proud of. It's an honour to us as well as to him."
