The winner of The X Factor will be in the running for the Christmas number one, it has been confirmed.
The victor's first single will be released on Wednesday, December 21 - just four days after the show ends.
"Uniquely, The X Factor single will be released on the Wednesday of Christmas week and not the traditional Monday, when all other contenders will release their records," said a spokesman.
"As soon is the winner is announced, CD presses across the country will immediately go to work and operate through the night in order to get the single into stores on Wednesday - giving the single four shopping days to beat the competition."
The late release gives other contenders such as Westlife, Robbie Williams, the Crazy Frog and X Factor alumni G4 a two day head start but bookies think the result is a dead cert.
"We have been snowed under by bets, leaving us no option but to make it the hottest Xmas favourite ever," said Ruper Adams of William Hill, who are offering odds of 4/7 on the X Factor winner.
