Hello Darlings

Look I dont want to be picky, and I would like you all to tell me if I am. But was last nights extra dated and very very deja vu ?

This whole Ian being bullied by Phil is so old and really is not giving the right impression on young bullies.

Phil just looked awful and it just seemed pants too me.

What is wrong with Peggy the minute she gets behind the bar she loses her Mitchell Bottle. Is this big crime family that stupid to think that sam would get away with it ?

Why oh why does peggy where such big outfits for something that is nothing but a back street boozer.

I cant believe that the sale and transfer of the pub can go through that quickly and with all this licensing laws, how the hell did peggy get her name above the door, did she go on the 2 day course and then go through the 6 week process ?

I wonder if Gus will face charges for letting Wellard bite Ian, surely yes Ian deserves being bitten but what the kids that run around the square ?

Last week, I thought Eastenders had cracked there we all where riding high on the back of successes and awards. Friday gave us a script that must have mad 90% of England cry, and would have won an oscar if it was a film and then we are back to this awful situation with Mr Potato Head in the square and his Pint-Sized Mother shouting her mouth off.

Looking forward to next few months ! :wall: :wall:

I do agree that the situation with Phil and Ian is boring and old hat but EastEnders should not be afraid to show bullying just because it might give the wrong impression on young bullies. EastEnders should never back down from showing bullying or other unpalatable subject matters.

Considering the history between Phil and Ian, and the fact Ian grassed Phil up, it is perfectly reasonable to expect that Phil would be bullying Ian. In fact, I would have found it silly if he did not. Saying that however, it does get irritating very quickly and I hope it does end soon. I'm not a big fan of the Mitchells but they are much less annoying when Phil is not going around the Square like a bear with a sore head and Peggy is not doing her "We're the Mitchells, we run this Square" rubbish. I think both Peggy and Phil have become a bit too much like cartoon characters and they need to be toned down a bit and made more real.

The next few weeks does look a bit rubbish to be honest, but I think it will pick up again at the beginning of December.

Is anyone annoyed with Peggy's voice.. she really does my head in.. and what is it with families in the square??? "you're a mitchell", "you're a slater".. "it is for the family"... I don't know anyone in real life like that.

Ian and phil's tit for tat is driving me mad.. Phil is a bully pure and simple.. Ian getting bit in the ass, that is a dangerous dog and does need to be put down...

I didn't liek last nights episode. I'm sick of the Ian and Phil stuff it's really predictable and repetative and it's not funny anymore. Also why is sam being portrayed as some kinda brave heroine, Sam was only in jail for a couple months which is no more than she deserved she should be there for at least another year. Nothing really appealed to me yesterday. I miss Chrissie and also grant.

Wellard, only did what most dogs would do when food is taken away from them, but why did the writers allow Gus to bring the dog into the cafe anyway? Surely he would've seen Juley and Ruby walking away since he came about 10sec after them.
As for Ian and Phil, Jane told him to stop winding them up and it would all blow over, to a degree it would once Phil had got the arches back. But now Ian has started yet another bout of tit for tat, Phil is going after everything, Oh how much easier it would've been if Ian had listened to Jane.

With the faces coming in soon, I reckon (hope) that the Mitchells will be more in the background in the future. They would be much more bearable just working in the Vic in the background, interacting with the newbie characters and Pat and Dot etc. I would much prefer watching Pat interact with Kevin, Deano and Carly and Jim and Dot with Jim's grandson, than watching Phil snarking at people and Peggy acting like the Queen of all Walford.

I agree with you all campers on the issue of phil bullying Ian after being grassed up. But even if Ian did stop annoy him, Phil would be still just as bad as he is a bully. We teach our kids all sorts at school and we tell them that Bullies always get caught in the end, so why have Eastenders not done that. Its just wicked and I know its just acting but for goodness sake, but its still a moral issue and I dont think it is right because its been going on for years now. Peggy would not be half has bad if he acting did not go to pot when she gets behind the bar. I mean look at her eyes when something is bothering her. I just seriously hope that the new characters will fill this massive void by so many people leaving. Its a massive gamble isnt it ? Plus do you think that Sharon will come back from her break again ? Now that Dad is dead, husband so to be dead and step mum in knick ?

Well bullies don't always get caught in the end in real life but it does seem strange that they have allowed the character of Phil to get away with everything he has done for so long. I mean characters like Trevor and Uncle Harry were given their commupance in death. Trevor was an abuser and a rapist, yet he never went to jail, instead the writers took the easy way out and killed him off because they did not want to have to go through another courtcase. If this was real life, Mo and Donna would be feeling hard done by and felt that Trevor never really paid for his abuse and rape of them and for trying to kill Mo and Sean. The same can be said for Harry. Like Trevor, Harry's death was meant to be the character getting his commupance when in reality it is not as they never went to jail and death was the easy way out for the writers. The likes of Janine and Graham have also been given their commupance, not in death but in jail, but Phil has not as doing so would mean the character would have to go to jail or die and they don't want to lose Phil as a character so the writers will never do it. The only time they might do it will be when the actor wants to leave.

I think we are meant to believe that Phil has paid for what he has done when he was shot and when he lost his children but his behaviour after these events suggest that he did not. He drove Lisa away just like he drove Kathy away. He lost Ben yet he made the same mistakes and lost Louise.

I think the new characters will fill a void. Even though the Wicks have a slight connection with Pat, I see them as the new family as there is three of them and their connection to Pat is distant. Jim's grandson is also a good addition as Jim and Dot need new people to interact with. The routine between Jim and Patrick is getting a bit old now so a grandson might help this. I personally don't want Letitia to come back because I find her coming and going tiresome now. They also have to give her dramatic and 'explosive' exits and entrances which are just the same old thing all the time.

Thank you for your thoughts and I agree with on all of them. But I really feel that Phil should be taught a lesson someone and take the wind out of his sails. Like have someone that he is scared off

Well, Den and Dennis taught him a lesson once, but it doesn't seem to have changed him.

But then if an even bigger bully sorts Phil out it still won't show that bullying is bad. It will just show that the bigger and stronger you are the more you can bully people. Perhaps a bit of subtelty is needed here somewhere....
