I watched it and was surprised that it was a adaption of shakespeare, I always thought shakespeare was boring. But I found this story funny, touching and also sad.I thought Billy Piper played a good part too.

I watched this too - it was brilliant - a fantastic adaptation for the modern times. I have never read shakespeare, but like you said, thought it to be boring etc, but this was great.... Apparently its Macbeth next week - I for one will certainly be tuning in.

shakespeare is not boring... have you watched the movie Clueless.. that was based on a shakespeare story.. I think the thing about shakespeare is that we have to study him in school.. much better modernised...

The reason I use to find it boring was when I was at school.it was taught in the original style with all the old language,it took alot of understanding, all the long winded way of saying, some thing simple, so I did get bored. The mordern way and language makes it more interesting. I went to see the stage play of "As you like it", and really enjoyed it.

I think thats a lot of it Hazey - you have the "where tos" and "are thous" etc, and in the old language can make it difficult to understand, and because it was taught in school (though I can't actually remember doing it!!) it was immediately boring. The preview for MacBeth looks really good for next week though - they have set it in a restaurant...

that is what I was saying.. Shakespeare is good if you can have it modernised so it can be understood.... I think at school you should be given both the original and a more modern one.. :rotfl: imagine shakespeare in text talk :rotfl:

Exactly Siobhan - as soon as you hear all the old speech, your brain switches off, whereas if it was presented modernised, more would take notice.

It is the language that has to be modernised.. look at the Leonardo di Caprio movie.. it was modernised but the language wasn't..... I would love to see all shakespears plays done in more modern language, there is some great one's out there with brilliant story lines...

Oh it's taming of the shrew with Shirley Henderson, Rufus Sewell, Jaime Murray, Stephen Tompkinson, Twiggy Lawson and David Mitchell. I would have loved it if they had done Othello

Being modernised doesnt mean that it has to be txt talk, since we dont SPEAK in txt talk. As they showed with Much Ado about Nothing, updated but it was the heart that was still in it. Which makes for a great adaptation, instead of the usual drivel we get.

This was good tonight. We did macbeth at school so it was nice seeing how it was adapted into a modern story that we could relate to

I enjoyed MacBeth, but not as much as I did last weeks. Taming of the Shrew next week - that looks good....
